Woppum
If Ron can claim a 10 second faster lap time on the TG track, what can Luca claim? Remembering too, Monkey's infamous post about How Ferrari spins Honestly who cares about speed now.both cars are way to fast for, even the best roads and on track you need to be a god to get the best out of them. What are these cars for?
Andrew
Woppum. How bl00dy old are you?! It isn't about practicality man ... it is about pub (or Sloane St wine bar) bragging rights!
Woppum
I'm 28 and old enough to worry about the future of cars. The gt3 is now an auto. The Supercars weigh as much as a mini but punch 1000bhp though a slush box. The speed limit is 70mph. Silverstone is only so long. I love evolution but the car needs to be driven like the enzo. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=YK5R8jnuLZ0&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DYK5R8jnuLZ0

Andy_Bangle
Very few of the hypercars will ever get driven anywhere near there limits - they end up in 'collections', with incredibly low milages.

m4ttm4son
It's all well and good moaning about the uselessness of this stuff, but all that tech trickles down. Disc brakes used to be race car brakes, fuel injection, aerodynamics, carbon fibre... everything ends up on affordable stuff nowadays There'll be a bunch of stuff on this that'll be useful in five years' time. In the mean time, it'll be fun watching this go round a few tracks on telly and maybe you'll see a few charging around Dubai or sideways on a farm
Woppum
Sure, it does trickle down. But is tht always a good thing? now double clutches are all the rage they have totally overwhelmed the market. All the manafacturors are having to offer them to keep up. In 5 years probably no one will offer a manual any more, which in my opinion is a shame. all this new tech on the new Ferrari will make cars faster but not neccisserilly more fun. Maybe I'm getting old?
m4ttm4son
Ah, faster vs fun. This is where you're having trouble. There are only a few car makers interested in making anything fun these days. Otherwise, it's ''Safe'', ''reliable'' and ''green'' than are the goals. If you want fun, you're going to have to look harder and harder for it. I think you might be keeping the RS for a while

One day, when I get some time, I'm going to visit these cars sat in collections, the ones capable of 200 mph but just live in some investor's collection, open each of their gloveboxes, and do a massive sh*t in them.
Andrew
Thinking about the mechanics of having a sh1t, I think you might find this difficult without a "monkey sling". I know it is early days but you need to do a bit of palnning to pull this off.

CarMad
Sounds great but looks a bit of a handful, but then with that much power its hardly going to be docile is it.
CarMad
The first reviews are in and they like it. But it seems they are all quite different in character and each has their pros and cons, it seem no single one is the best as such but the Porsche seems to sit in third for power, handling and feel. But the LaFerrari sounds well, a bit special even if it seems the P1 might give a better mid range shove.

Andrew
Yeah, I'd have one. Interesting how two of the guys said the brakes were awesome, and one said not so great. I'll bet Harris was green with envy.
Woppum
The Porsche is the only one not yet ready. Apparently no one has actually driven the full power version and actually what materialises may be actually the fastest of the three. What is so brilliant about he Ferrari is it makes no attempt to be the greenest of the three. In fact I don't think green is anything to do with the laf. It has the most incredible n/a v12 power plant that has ever been in a Supercar - making close to 800bhp, then that engine is massaged by angels....all of the time to produce virtually 1000bhp. This is why you hear that noise, that is why the throttle response is so incredibly good. The chassis is so light, the steering so darty and direct (like a 458 but notched up a fair few cranks), I know what this car drives like....I've driven it in my dreams. What is a p1?

Woppum
Anyone you know getting one Woppum? And, have you got your name down for the 458 replacement? Sadly at this stage I know no one with a car. Yes I do have my name down for replacement but if it's a turbo I think Ill try an f12, speciale or 599 gto in a couple of years.
Woppum
Do tell. Is the 918 being tweaked even further now? As far as I know Porsche are still tweaking their development cars and have managed to get more power out of them than for example the car that did the sub 7 min record at the ring. This may or may not be correct. Can't tell you more than that today I'm afraid...
