Ian_C
Very tidy!! Green or black? Sorrento greens are very rare and command a nice premium. Its lost the original front mud flaps though which is a shame, one of mine is off the car atm as the mounting bracket has rusted through, another job on the list! Put a new battery in mine today. Old one was struggling to start the car even after charging, so I hadn't started it in over a month. Went for a drive, ended up doing 75 miles! M8CKN
It's gunmetal grey, same as my 1986 was. Thata what drew me to it, it was like I was 21 again!!
Ian_C
You had an early one!!
M8CKN
You had an early one!! Yup. Kept it perfect for 2 1/2 years then the old twunk that bought it from me killed it. Why I thought a 309gti was a good replacement I have no idea??
Ian_C
Mines one of the last, registered May 93, doesn't mean they are built any better though.......
Calm Chris
We ran a little comms firm (1989), I had a 205 1.9 GTi and my business partner had a 309 GTi . His was shite. I My little sister had a 205 1.6 GTi a few years later and aged 20 she was paying £2200 ins a year (by then the GTi insurance was sky high due to trees being hit or cars being stolen). No matter who says what, the only more fun small car that compares to my Pug is the (apparently absolutely shite) BMW 120d. Chalk and cheese cars, but both provoked a sense of steering fun and playtime drive.
Tipex
The 309GTi was always reckoned to be the better handling of the two, in fact several reviews at the time declared it to be the best handling fwd car bar none. Slightly less twitchy and lift off oversteer prone than the 205 due to it's longer wheelbase so they said. I'd actually quite like a nice 309 GTi actually, i'd like a 205 GTi too but the 309 is rarer so that floats my boat more.
Ian_C
Mines twitchy as f*ck at the minute. Really lively and wanders all over the place as you come on / off throttle. Had just got it handling beautifully before a bottom bush disintegrated, garage replaced wishbone, its probably been tightened up on the post ramp with the wheel off, whereas it needs to be tightened dropped with the suspension under load.
