Andrew
It looked epic - far nicer than the pictures in the press show. Colour was nice too (Luke) and the stuff you can see, the workings, behind the mesh at the back made the car sort of feel like it was alive. I realise that is a bit of a sensationalist thing to say but it is the best way I can describe it.

Andrew
As it came up behind me towards the lights I knew it was something special - he had his DRLs on so I saw it from about 25 miles away.
garcon magnifique
That's the best colour I've seen one in, and not a colour I'd have thought of! Even I quite like the looks of that and I'm really not a fan of the current era Macs.
jimdiesel
They look tiny in the flesh. There was a black one in the paddock at Rockingham when the British GTs were there. I nearly tripped over it.
Luke
Love the colour, Andrew... First time I saw an Enzo, couldn't believe how small that was. Still haven't seen a P1.

Andrew
A child prodigy. See it in the flesh, then decide wold be my suggestion.
garcon magnifique
Looks like it was designed by a child. As all super cars should do.
CarMad
I've seen one in the flesh at the Manchester dealership and it looks amazing a proper supercar. They shouldn't look styled by commitee like some can look, but each to their own it would get my vote if I was in the market.

Twinspark
A super car should look like an F40. Or McLaren F1. Or a 288GTO. That just looks like someone got a bit over-exciting with drawing swirly lines. Mind you, the other McLaren looks like an over-priced Lotus. So I suppose it's an improvement on that. Andrew
Ah, I'm with you. You want a design that doesn't make full use of modern day aerodynamic techniques and downward force so that you can go round corners even more quickly?
Twinspark
I'm sure that can be done without making it look like it was designed by a junior school sci-fi fan. Modern super cars just look so wrong. Too much bling and styling for the sake of styling. I want brutal, functional, and simple, but timeless, lines. The modern crop of super cars will age really badly, in my opinion.
eldavo69
Errrrrr - isn't the whole point of the P1 is that it's designed entirely for functionality rather than styling?

Twinspark
Thats lost on No spark, bless. I think it's a fabrication from McLaren marketing. Just look at the relative simplicity of the Porsche 918, for example. Even the LaFerrari looks tame in comparison.
eldavo69
In the Chris Harris LaF review he states that it has noticeably less downforce than the P1 and that the P1 would be significantly faster round a track due to it's aero design. I'll take the word of someone who's driven both and has enough experience to know what he's talking about over you sat at home in your tinfoil hat eating your council tea. patently
I think it's a fabrication from McLaren marketing. Even if it is, who cares? Who is going to spend £x00,000 on a car that looks like an S2000? And I say that as someone who thinks the S2000 looks really pretty. Supercars should look utterly ridiculous and be totally impractical and priced way out of the range of mere mortals. When we spot one, we should be "Wow - where's my phone, I've got to get a photo of that for the Internet!". So I salute Andrew, McLaren, the McLaren design department, and the McLaren marketing department. Well done, all of you
NewNiceMrMe
Compared to the borefest that the 'cheap' McLaren is, I think the P1 looks superb. From the rear it is like something out of Battlestar Galactica with a futuristic remake. Oh and it is Cylon, not human. They're cooler.
Luke
Look at this boring car. Totally shite.

Tipex
A super car should look like an F40. Or McLaren F1. Or a 288GTO. That just looks like someone got a bit over-exciting with drawing swirly lines. Mind you, the other McLaren looks like an over-priced Lotus. So I suppose it's an improvement on that. But there is already a super car that looks like an F40, and a Macca F1, and believe it or not, a 288 GTO too. Even Ferrari don't think a super car should look like a 288GTO any more otherwise they'd still be selling the 288GTO. If you're in the market for a supercar and want one that looks like any of the above, I suggest buying one rather than a P1. As for the P1 itself, I think it looks amazing, i've even warmed to the 12C over the last few years but still think it should have looked like the P1 does today. At the end of the day though, a super car should be divisive, it should look ridiculous in an either love it or hate it way, that's what generates passion, which is what supercars are about. I'm not interested in what car laps the Nurburgring fastest or anything like that, it's all about the looks
