Ian_C
Absolute bollocks. Was shocked people suggested Monaco was done on purpose, am shocked further that people think NR 'handed' LH the Monza win?

Luke
What. like when Schumi did it in Quali at Monaco?
garcon magnifique
Schumacher bent the rules to his own advantage in quali. Rosberg allegedly did the same at Monaco - but I believe it was an honest error with a fortuitous outcome. The supposed 'team management' on Sunday was entirely different. According to the tin foil hat morons Rosberg is supposed to have deliberately missed the chicane to allow Hamilton through as his 'punishment'. What a load of complete and utter bollocks. What could the team possibly have to gain from doing that? There is no believable motive. I know F1 is a fücking silly circus these days but Merc have one very straightforward objective. To win the manufacturer's title. Secondary is to win the driver's title. They couldn't give a flying fück which driver wins as long as one of them does. They're not going to fück about swapping places just because some fücking thick idiots think Hamilton has been hard done by.
cruiser647
Any professional sports bod 'lowering' their game will lower it to such an extent that it is plainly obvious - the Chinese badminton girls at the London Olympics for instance. It's either all or nothing. Jockey's are usually easily spotted deliberately slowing their horse. Also, Hamilton nearly did the same at the chicane under no pressure - he had a big lock up heading into it.
jimdiesel
Whilst it appears far fetched. Why once Lewis was in the lead was the pace of the two mercs so slow? Lewis's lock up near the end of the race was caused by cold brakes because he was running so slowly.
garcon magnifique
I refuse to believe they swapped them on purpose, but I have little doubt they were told to hold station in the latter stages. Fuel was a bit marginal for Rosberg too - so maybe that limited him and Lewis just kept the pace he needed to having taken a few extra laps life out of the tyres pressurising Nico in the first place. jimdiesel
You see a very different race if you watch the live timing. Half of me refuses to believe it to Garçon. But all the data I saw from the live timing suggests otherwise.
garcon magnifique
True, I just watched it on plain old BBC. I still don't believe it for a moment. But let's turn it around anyway. If they did swap them, and Hamilton somehow goes on to win the WDC it will be completely worthless to anyone but him and his most blinkered fanatics. Luke
Something was going on Garcon. Toto nearly pissed himself laughing when Nico went straight on. Then almost instantly it was the same gap to the end. They were not racing. Rosberg has shown he's the match of Hamilton and I believe he could have easily pushed him a lot harder for the remainder of the race. I'm still amazed at the booing Nico received again. And by the tifosi, very poor IMHO. Personally, I think Nico was not allowed to win that race by the team.
CarMad
I must admit that I was surprised that after the pass things calmed down so much. It would 'fit' that they said if Lewis is close let him win as a punishment. I'd hope that wasn't the case but as said, it is a silly circus at times and some teams have and do silly things. Crash incidents, design cheats the list is endless, its a sport where things can and do go silly at times, but that is after all why I for one like it so much. Ian_C
The look on Totos face I thought was one of relief - this time there wasn't going to be any dicing
E-bmw
Personally, I think Nico was not allowed to win that race by the team. I am in 2 minds personally, but I think if it was actually set up, I think it was set up between Nico & Lewis, not the team.
patently
A typical discussion between racing drivers on the prospects of doing a deal: Driver 1: "I reckon it would be fair if you moved over late in the race to let me past. That would solve all sorts of past disagreements between us. What do you think?" Driver 2: "Feck off and die".
jimdiesel
The discussion would not have been between Nico and Lewis. The Totonator would have said to Nico. 'Come with me if you want to live'
garcon magnifique
Maybe part of the deal was Toto assuring Nico that they've already decided he will win the WDC. *stands back*
CarMad
And it appears that reports about Di Montezemolo leaving Ferrari are indeed true, after 23years in charge he is leaving towards the end of October. It seems a Fiat boss had it in for him and he is gone. Role on the next generation of Ferrari I can't see things getting back to the top just yet with all of this change myself. Luke
Ferrari and McLaren have both been very poor recently. Whitmarsh has now left completely and Luca has had the Mafia offer he couldn't refuse. As much as the driver battle at Merc's is entertaining, we desperately need other teams to get nearer the front. Williams are doing it and I hope the others will get there soon.
CarMad
No great fight from anyone until next season when they can update the engines. Mercedes are the only ones to truly offer the full package where the integration of the engine and the other systems is so seamless. Renault and Ferrari have new engines nearly ready and would like the in season engine upgrades removed but I very much doubt Merc will really want that. Honda due next season with Mclaren and next season might be a whole different ball game.
jimdiesel
Luca's departure is more to do with the disagreement over the strategy for the road car division. The F1 teams results are just a convenient lever. He was a great leader for Ferrari and will be missed. The future road car strategy is worrying. CarMad
Luca, has done extremely well with the road car division when you consider where things were in the 80s, fingers crossed things don't go silly without him. What is the new direction ??

jimdiesel
Luca wanted to cap production at 7000 upa. This will now be dramatically increased with diversification. Cheaper models. SUVs. Not good IMO I look forward to the Ferrari Luca 2.0tdi 5dr business edition tribute F1
