Mook
Git I'd fear me getting a bike again - I'd be one of those people who thought they remembered exactly what it should be like to ride a bike when they were 16-19, but actually it's all gone out the window
cruiser647
Oh right, thought you mis-spelt Borneo.
Scotty
I'd fear me getting a bike again - I'd be one of those people who thought they remembered exactly what it should be like to ride a bike when they were 16-19, but actually it's all gone out the window That's what I fear every Spring. People go out riding on the first sunny day thinking they can pull it all together straight off ... and they pay the price when they can't. Add in "born again bikers" and it's a scary time. On the other hand three days on track means no one is clambering for every second of track time. Everyone pays more respect to each other when passing as you're a long way from home. You have plenty of time to learn the track and then focus on your own ability. In a nutshell it would be ideal for you
Mook
It's also why two day 'Ring trackdays with the rule of "no novices" are brilliant Don't try and tempt me to buy a bike, Scotty - you know I'd have to modify it...

NewNiceMrMe
What happened to your plans to get a bike ? Still keen ? Yes, still on the agenda. It had always been my intention to look at a Spring 2015 purchase (or that was the likelihood and it hasn't changed).

Scotty
On my first bike track day (was 3 days in Portugal) I didn't sleep much the week before, I got about 3 hours a night during the event and was buzzing for about two weeks after. Fear / adrenaline - they end up being mixed up .... which is why we take the post track day wind down so seriously Edited January 25, 2015 by Scotty

Scotty
A review of our trip : The track is great and has a feel like Spa with it's undulations and general length (approx 3.5M). It's a combination of a couple of long corners, a few flick/flacks all link by some quick squirts or a decent length home straight. The drag up to the start/finish straight known as Horsepower Hill is just that. If really sorts out the bikes based on BHP and exit speed from the previous bend. : I found it a really enjoyable circuit. The surface was clean all over which helps if you happen to get off line. I did get it very wrong after going around an instructor and pupil which ended up with a bike going for a small beach excursion. I lent back and gave it some gas and it didn't dig in and I rode straight out . Strangely inside my helmet I could hear a voice saying "no no no no no!" The pits were allocated to 12 bikes each (they did charge extra which is a bit odd for a Euro trip) but they were plenty large enough. The onsite fuel station (cheaper than Tesco's ) made life easy as did the decent on site cafe with associated Czech waitresses Biscuit's bike has got some serious grunt. It was also great to see someone pinning it and having confidence in the electronics do their thing. If you've got them then that's how you should use them. My old Gixxer ran faultlessly unlike many other bikes in the surrounding garages. All the bikes ran fine once a certain Italian thing had it's battery replaced. There were quite a few off's and I think a total of three going to hospital (all seemingly minor - dislocated toes, sprained wrist etc). Track temps of 57C on day three meant it was getting a bit slippery for the ACU group but I was still finding it more than sticky enough. The Metzeler CompK's lasted the three days (plus Snetterton before) and still have more in them. They stepped out a couple of times but I think that's more to do with simply pushing too hard rather than it being a tyre issue. Overall they wore beautifully (the wet is from the rainy trip back from Swindon - the pic rotation is the stupid software!) Evening outs were cheap with a 2 course meal, sides and a couple of rounds of beer coming to £11-15 Some decent pics always help complete the trip and the photographer was pretty good. The first is a freeze frame from my video camera : Normally that would be the end of the trip but Ryan air changed our flight times meaning we had to miss 1/2 day of track time or stay over an extra night. We did the latter. Once packed up we found an old Toro Rosso being prepared. So on our free day we took our chances and returned to the track. Good to hear this again :http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3628815/Bikes/2015%20Brno/IMG_3668.MOV A great trip !
