chasdrury
I need a hotel for one night in London, we are going to something at BBC Broadcasting House on Portland Place - as I am going with MrsChasDrury and it's also her birthday that week, I want somewhere a bit "boutiquey" - so not a business chain. But as this is a last minute thing don't want to spend the earth. Was hoping for around £150 inc breakfast. Doesn't matter if it's a bit out of the centre... Cheers! cruiser647
Portland Sq - Thought that was up in Bloomsbury, as was going to suggest Hotel Russel! However, it's down in Wapping - so not sure of places down there apart from the places in Canary Wharf.

garcon magnifique
Not sure it qualifies as boutiquey enough, but the Arosfa on Gower Street might be worth a look. Not stayed there myself yet as it's always been full when I've wanted to, but it comes well recommended, it's about the right price and it's close by. http://www.arosfalondon.com
Daz
I use the Hotel Rafayel when I'm usually up in London. It's a bit out of town in Battersea and comes within your budget. They have onsite secure parking if you're driving and you can get a bus outside direct to Chelsea/Victoria. http://www.hotelrafayel.com
NewNiceMrMe
Not sure when you're going, but there's a deal online at the moment with Booking.com and Hotels.com for the Amba Hotel at Charing Cross. That's the 5th best rated hotel on TripAdvisor in London - and out of 1,058 hotels that isn't too shabby. It has been refurbished too, apparently. The deal takes the price for a night down from £270 to £169. The hotel also gets a 9.3 out of 10 rating on Booking.com. I don't know if it is remotely 'boutique' in style but for the money I suspect it'll be as good as any. I've paid £199 a night to stay at the Premier Inn in Islington before now, and I can never get the Premier Inn at Euston for less than £145, so as London prices go I'll be amazed if it can be beaten for what it is. I think a lot will depend on if it is a weekday or weekend overnight stay. Edited January 12, 2016 by NewNiceMrMe
Daz
That is a very good rate for such a central location, although I notice that it's their non flexible rate. So you definitely need to be sure that you're going to be there.

It's just down the road from me. Nice hotel. Great value for £140 a night.
