Snail
I have a couple of large (2-3GB) MPEG2 videos.....and i want to edit them (remove unwanted bits, etc) whats the best software? I've tried Pinnacle 7SE, Ulead factory, and windows movie maker, pinnacle only seems to like to edit stuff its captured itself, ulead works, but insists upon re-encoding the media, and WMM just continually crashes, surely there must be some utility that allows me to at least seperate one large MPEG file into several smaller ones. HELP!!!
Snail
Well, i found a utility called NanoMPEG which allows simple editing of MPEG2 files, now i've found Windows Movie Maker, and my copy of Ulead Studio only make VCDs (i wanna make DVDs) and Pinnacle Studio 7SE doesn't seem to like inserting MPEG files, so anyone got any good MPEG2 to AVI conversion links? Steve_S3
Check out http://www.vcdhelp.com - it has links to all the tools you'll need. Try and get a copy of Adobe Premiere for editing. It really depends on how much editing you want to do to the movies. If it's simple splitting, there are numerous freeware tools on vcdhelp that do this, but the results are not always good. You'll have to do a bit of testing to see what works. TMPGEnc is probably the best MPEG encoder, but it's really slow. Try Canopus Procoder for as good a result but quicker. There are some links to cracked versions around. Good luck!!
Snail
Pretty much sorted out all my problems now......been using nanoMPEG to split my mpeg files, and ULEAD to turn them into DVDs, and ULEAD doesn't always like .MPG files that have been split, so will be searching for other splitting utils tonight online, saw loads on zdnet.co.uk lastnight, so hopefully all my problems are nearly over.....cheers gents
