A8Mark
I need some advice. When i bought my A8 it had loadsa faults with it that the dealer is in the process of fixing for me(under-warrenty). One of the probs was a fault light on the dash for the brakes. The dealer has put new pads in front but still fault showing. He then sent it to a Audi main dealer to be looked at,they found it to be a faulty wire in the wiring loom on the brakes. This was fixed and the problem disapeared. Now today i went for a nice drive to Mersey island to pick my daughter up,on the way up there i had to brake hard to avoid an object in the road.I suddenly felt a hard vibration on the brake pedal(it was as if someone was banging the brake pedal with a hammer),but after that it was fine for the next 100 miles(no probs). On the way back on the A12 i think something fell of the underside of the car as there was a big bang from under the car.Looked couldn't see nothing wrong, but after that everytime i braked hard i got the bad banging and vibration again. Its fine if you only brake gently but if you brake hard its crash bang wollop. To me it sounds like a pads come out (is this poss?)or have you got any ideas???... Cars going in to Audi on thursday so will get them to cheak it out.... Any help is useful.... A8Mark.. Sven
As said in the other thread, a friend had the (EBC Greenstuff) pads come of their backing TWICE. If you turn the wheels (assuming it's the front) you should be able to see the pads IMO. Why not check that first... Must be quite a scare no...? SneakyMcC
Yeah I got some good advice . "Dont leave this until thursday" unless you're not driving it... Take out the pads both side (for comparison) if you intend driving until you get to the stealer. 1) this may save someone’s a$$. 2) you may find the prob yourself and avoid the dreaded "diagnostic time". To be read Hello Mr Dover, or can I call you Ben (Ben Dover! Geddit? You will if the stealer gets their way)

PaulW
The good thing about that is that you can hook up vag-com and it will have stored faults that will tell you what is wrong. Does not sound like anything serious. If you bring it to somebody, have them pull the codes, then post them here.
