steveooo Posted October 5, 2004 Report Share Posted October 5, 2004 Hi, Please help, I have an un-modified 210BHP S3, which is suffering from serious brake fade then the ABS decides to kick and it all goes wrong.... basically my old Audi TDI had better braking on it... OK, Rant over :-) I have been told that a good option is to put Porsche 911 brake calipers, disks and pads on it, has anybody outthere sucessfully achieved this? DO i need to do anything else like brake hoses etc.... if so what parts do i need to get and does anybody know the exact Porsche part numbers so i can get it ordered. Don't think he's online at the mo (cos he hasn't yet offered to fit my lights )but it's only a matter of time!! A cheaper alternative is to go for EBC. One of my freinds is a mecanic at Porshce UK and can get me the bits i need with his Staff discount which is very hany indeed. so if i get him to order For 17" AVUS rims Porsche 993 bi-turbo 4 piston aluminium callipers, 36/44mm piston diameter Porsche 993 bi-turbo discs, 322 x 32mm vented with cast-in holes Porsche 993 bi-turbo genuine pad set for street use (75.5cm2) what else do i need? Hats... the discs are floating and are 2 piece (a rotor and a hat). the hats are the parts that bolt to the hub. Blackish inner disc bit in this picture... The Porsche ones will not fit. They are drilled to suit the audi bold pattern (5x100 PCD) Brackets... the calpiper sits on a custom made bracket to push it further out from the audi mounting points to clear the now bigger discs. I aslo chose to have the Porcshe Pad sensors fitted so the audi warnings still work (on passenger side only and costy about £16) and higher spec DOT 5.1 fluid Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Paul Posted October 6, 2004 Report Share Posted October 6, 2004 Forgemotorsport may be able to sell you the brackets and hats you need.... or you may try AmD, but they are not so keen on selling them separately from their kits, incase they get copied. you could tell them your case (ie can get discounted price sourcing them yourself) and see how it goes my brake lines are still the Audi ones. Paul Posted October 6, 2004 Report Share Posted October 6, 2004 yes mate. I have the wheels off every now and again for a deep clean and wax. (usually cycle them front to back at same time too, to get even tyre wear) while i am at it, i do a quick clean around the wheel arch area, including calipers and clean/flush out the holes in the discs to get rid of the brake dust build up. very easy maintenance.
