ECU Firmware 008-009

Riz,

Just my guess...our cars came with code version 6 (or 006).

This sucked a little and after various release we probably didn't see, I'm guessing they came up with a point release of 6.4 (the version 4 we all talked about). This sucked a bit too on the hesitance side so they did another point release, maybe 6.4.63 or 6.4.6.3 or something that became known as 6463 to us. This is still based on the original 006.

Sound like there has now been another major ECU release in the form of version 8.

Its been out awhile as ive seen posts about it on the Gemran R32 forum... translation was abit tricky though.

Apparently the version 8/9 for the DSG R32 the top speed has capped at 160mph!

Well from what i have read the DSG models have a limiter emposed at 160mph in this new ECU firmware update!

In my R32 DSG I had an indicated 175 mph (280 km/h) on a long downhill sprint in Germany this Summer. BUT that was before the new 009 ECU Firmware upgrade.

I am still having problems with hesitation and therefore waiting for the 010 ECU Firmware, which is already out in Germany. It is not translated To English yet frown.gif

The problem with the current update seems to be in the "knock sensor" being too sensitive

When it gets warmer I will report on the new top speed cool.gif

I have version 9 as of this morning, courtesy of my local dealership, without asking.

Still bunny-hopped away from the workshop but seems a little smoother once on the move (who knows, really).

Like so many of us, I am not convinced they (VW) have this sorted at all.

It's probably time to throw away that warranty and go for the fully monty (exhaust, cams, re-map and a couple of turbos!), then convert it to RWD. Or just buy the new M5 or 6 and be done with it!

I wonder if the R32 has the record for number of ECU revisions?

I'm really starting to wonder if there is actually a hardware issue here, but they consider it easier to attempt many a software workaround to cure the problem.

Not sure if I can confirm, but is it mostly earlier vehicles that have the hesitation problem. My car must be one of the last off the production line and has never had too much of an issue. Maybe I have slightly different hardware?

Ok im confused... what version are we running here in the UK? Version 6? (6.4.6.3)

And whats the latest... i assumed that there are different verions for the Manual and DSG gearboxs!

Also since there we not any offical DSG R32`s in the UK do you think VW will actually bother doing this V10 translation into english for you? (R32DSG)

Yes there are different versions for the manual and DSG. I bought my car new in Feb. 2004 and it had a newer ECU version than the manual. Then came the V6364 for the manual only and in Oct. there was one for me.

It has not cured the problem completely and I`m therefore waiting for the new version 010. It will soon come to England on a disc together with many other updates for different VW`s.

My car was bought in Denmark and is on foreign license plates but even though, Vindis VW in Cambridge has always been extremely helpful to me. I can really recommend them to anyone, as I `ve read that not all R32 owners has been so happy with certain dealers.

Thanks for the interest in DSG, more will come!!!

Well im not bothered.

Mine has been running 'beter than fine' since getting 6463 installed, many months and thousands of miles ago.

More than happy
