activa
If it works as stated then it sounds fantastic and a must for all performance car drivers. £40 for something supposedly so good seems a bit cheap though. Love to know how it calibrates all this from your cig lighter!!!
AudiPartner
Perhaps I'll buy one to test. If they're any good I'll buy them all and punt 'em out for £100 each.
shao_khan
I have used a G-Tech pro before and the one I used did the job very well - cant remember how it all connected in though now as it was a while back.
AudiPartner
C'mon then, own up... who's bought one? There were 19 available when I posted, now only 18!
Botang
I have had one for a few years, they are incredibly accurate for the 1/4 mile times, the speeds we have questioned in the past and never did bother inputting the weight to calculate the bhp. One of my mates had it in his car when he went up Santa Pod and it was 0.1 of a second out. The only porblem with them is that they are fairly fiddly, they come with a mount that sticks to the windscreen then every time you use it you have to recalibrate it by setting it level with the help of the on screen display. Its good fun though

Mac
I had something pretty similar - the BHP figures are calculated from the mass of the car...Relatively simple maths really. The speed is measured by some form of gyroscope I should imagine. Infuriatingly mine wouldn't drop below 4.01s for 0-60. Did my nut.
Botang
It may have been realeased in 1994, but it still works in exactly the same way, the new ones are just a bit more flashy. How the thing works has always puzzled me, it does have a gyroscope thingy thats why you have to set the level each time, apparently it can measure the rpm through the 12v socket. Dodge
So you have this very model? Have you used a lot? and you have obvioulsy recommened it earlier but would you buy another at this price? I'm interested but for an extra £60 I can get a new 2004 model from the US! Botang
The new ones do a quite a lot, and overall it is a nicer unit but at £40 its pretty good value for the old one. We bought it between a few of us so it only cost about £20 each but it was about £80/£100 (from memory) at the time.
Dodge
Did you say you've never used the "Speed" function, or was it that it wasn't true? That's one part of it I would use constasntly as my Speedo is always incorrect... Anyhow, thanks for your advice Botang... I'm gona sleep on it! Botang
You cant use speed constantly I dont think, it only gives a speed reading as you cross the finish line, and we didnt think it was very accurate compared to the speedo.
