Guys I have a question that some of you might be able to answer but only the hardcore GTI enthusiasts I imagine recently I was driving my GTI Mk V on the M6 and noticed in the rearview mirror another Mk V Gti in White (mines black because the wife didnt like the white even though it would have been my choice)no massive surprise there but this is the question it was not a standard model on the back where the GTI logo was underneath it had the numbers 260 and instead of the standard twin chrome exhaust it had a single but slightly larger bore exhaust it did not look like it was a one off custom but it was a German car juding by the number plate. Do any oof you know if this is a standard Volkswagen production car and if so can my local VW dealer get me upgraded any help would be great.

Thanks.

The xenons are defo worth it mines black beautiful when clean but need cleaning every 3 or 4 days would definately suggest the 18" wheels as well as the graphite effect is worth the money alone the satnav is ok but nothing special and does not recognie many post codes including my home address have asked VW about this but theve not been forthcoming with any answers I think the seats are slightly disappointing could have done with more lateral bolstering (I love throwing my car around a bit) other than that it is a stunning car and everyone of my mates who have driven it agree and some of them have Porsches and M6's.

I suspect the 260 was some discrete advertising by the owner regarding the BHP output (probably due to a re-map). The exhaust is likely to be aftermarket too, there's no official VW 'special editions' as far as I know.

Oh, and by they way, you might try throwing a few commas and full stops in your posts to make them a bit easier to read!

Welcome.

Hello,

Im a long time lurker and have just ordered a GTI on the 28th Oct. I have a MKIV Gt tdi 130 at the moment.

Spec of the GTI is 5 door, steel grey, 18s, xenons, leather, ipod prep & cruise.

Ive been wanting to order GTI for months but the VW dealer on the island didnt have a GTI to test drive!!! Finally a indy dealer got one in a few weeks back and I took a test drive just to make sure I didnt have any problems with it. Everything was good so placed my order at the weekend, sorted. smile.gif

Ps. Does anyone know how long it will be before im told my build week? Cheers.

As TP27 said definitely a good buy at £45 for Highline computer.

I'd consider removing cruise at £270 as VW dealers fit the same cruise unit for £150 all in. 169144-ok.gif

But you only get a years warranty on it!! and the butchers...sorry dealers have to fit it!

Hello everyone.

Never used this forum before (am on other VAG sites instead) but looks like a lot of Mk5 GTI owners lurk here so I thought I'd join up.

Good to see a couple of you have got the AP Racing BB kits on as I've been very tempted to fit them (already done a few track days in mine with standard brakes).

Cheers

Hey RedRobin it was SiBurt's original thread that got me to TSN (Google'd about Golf GTI Brakes)

But yeah have read your very comprehensive review of your set up too.

I had AP 4 pots on my old Ibiza Cupra which were good.

The Mk5 kit is just right as you can keep the standard Monza wheels which I love.

Decisions decisions

Hi to everyone

I recently bought an 11 month old GTI DSG, 3-door in black with 18"s, leather cream), Sat nav, autochanger, cruise, winter pack (very useful here in Switzerland)and alarm (not std here). I love the DSG and my girlfriend has remarked on how much attention the 18" Monzas attract. I tell her that its actually her that causing the attention!

Very good site and I have already asked my first question!

Cheers everyone
