Advice for a friend required guys and girls, so come on:

If you were choosing a company car, that can be up to 2 years old, less than 15,000 miles, and MUST fit ALL of the following criteria - what would you get?

- Saloon/Estate/Mondeo/3-series/A4 sized

- LOW CO2 for low tax

- original list price IS important due to tax

- diesel, must be a diesel for max economy/tax

- not a slouch, but performance isn't a key factor

- mile cruncher, comfortable, but not necessarily luxury

- transmission not an issue

- decent spec

you could always have a look at my bmw that for sale!

euro 4(latest emmissions) compliant diesel engine, less than 2 years old, all the bits expected! nearly meets the criteria, except it is a coupe if thats allowable?

Nah, 4 door or Estate they said. Besides, with that spec I suspect your list price would hammer them on tax even though the CO2 rating would be low. What was the price new?

No it's ok max, i think the 2 doors is a no-no anyway and that list price means the tax would be high for a company car for what they're looking for.

Never thought of those. Off to the VW website next! My wife used to have a Passat 1.8T 20v mind you and we had a few problems with it (lots of plastics that broke!).

Then again, as it's a company car I guess they won't be too bothered and the company will fix anything that breaks.

What about the Mondeo ST TDCI?

Lot of spec and decent performance for the £££

Bit repmobile like isn't it?

I know the same can be said of the BMW/Audi's but at least you get a superior level of build too.

My brother-in-law has a TDi Ghia too, and he's had quite a few panel fit problems with it and what he calls 'rattle a day' issues.
