Woppum
Here we go! I suppose this would work for the R32??
N3WOB
Flippin heck, that's a big step up "Thanks to the Gemballa high-performance cure, the V6-engine in the Porsche Cayenne has now a performance of impressive 365 bhp instead of the standard 242 bhp. The torque of the Cayenne-engine modified by the V6 Turbo conversion kit, is continuously available between 2600 and 5000 rpm and reaches 480 Nm. If a Porsche Cayenne is equipped with the Gemballa V6 Turbo conversion kit, it will reach a top speed of 239 kmh instead of the standard 217 kmh." FiftyPence
So I take it that the Porsche Cayenne comes with pretty much the same engine as the R32 so maybe we could but the Gemballa conversion kit in the R32 et voila loadsa power
Mook
It's exactly the same engine, but you will never get Porsche to admit to it. I guess the problem is that because the upgrade has the Porsche name associated with it, you can instantly add ££££££'s to it.
bazza_g
yup - its the same engine alright - Porsche got to use as part of the deal with the VW touareg/Porsche Cayenne joint development programmes
Woppum
What is the cheapest turbo/supercharger converison for the R32 so far. I think AmD want around £5k to boost power to 330bhp with a supercharger. Anyone do anything similar for around £2kish???
Mook
An AmD Stage 4 conversion (no forced induction) will set you back £3230 including VAT, and you'll have to fork out £4.5K for the 360 bhp HGP turbo conversion from www.vagtech.co.uk - and that's without fitting, which adds £2K to the cost. I don't think you'll get anything for around £2K - you might be able to get a turbo from a Transit diesel from your local breakers yard and stick it on... N3WOB
Waiting for some comedian to post an under the bonnet picture of his modified engine block with a Babyliss hairdryer attached.
Mook
What, you mean like this... It's hooked up to a cold air intake just behind the drivers head so it can pull the smell of Loreal Spikey Hair Sh*ite through the induction system...
Dan32
I believe the supercharger kit using a Vortech supercharger, from NS (Nik Saran) Racing starts at about 3k but I maybe wrong. 320bhp stage 1.
N3WOB
nice one Charlie, although a little disappointed it's not a photo of the real thing securely fixed with gaffer tape & samco hoses
Dan32
And the engine bay for a Cayenne has infinitely more room than the R where you can't even get the headlight bulbs out without taking the front of the car apart, which means I doubt it would bolt straight on. I think thats why we can't order an 'off the shelf' kit from EIP as they had to modify the turbo kit to fit RHD.
Calm Chris
Might be the same engine, but I believe the Porker has an engine bay thats 50% larger than the R32. So there maybe big space issues since the system has been designed with the porkers engine bay in mind. Anyone got a shoe horn?

[/ QUOTE ] I'm fairly sure that NS Racing use the VF Engineering supercharger, which is the same as the unit that AmD use for their Stage 5 R32 conversion, but AmD manage to extract 330 bhp as they have redone the remap - the standard remap that comes with the VF unit is done by GIAC. I think. So, er, so there...
Woppum
I am sure when i asked they said it was the VF unit, in fact I am virtually certain. They did say that they lost power with the new cams though... does anyone have the web address to AmD i can't seem to find it

R32North
Pants to all that Blower / Charger bolt on nonsense!!! You want to get back to basics and mod the head, ports, cam, etc and get the asthmatic V6 lump breathing efficiently! That V6 is good for 350bhp without any induction and plenty of tuners out there could get a 100 bhp increase from it. Once its breating properly you can then dump more fuel in and out etc. Its all about breathing and this is where the 3.2V6 lump is piss poor compared to other cars.... M3 anyone!! Smudge
[ QUOTE ] Its all about breathing and this is where the 3.2V6 lump is piss poor compared to other cars.... M3 anyone!! [/ QUOTE ] Aye, but the M3 is a Straight Six, not a V.

[/ QUOTE ] Aye, but the M3 is a Straight Six, not a V. [/ QUOTE ] Very true but both are 3.2 lumps and one has 100bhp more...... granted its highly tuned and a straight 6. But the Rs lump is well underpowered for its size! Deliberately done I knw but plent of scope for 'proper' tuning!
graeme86
Look up the tuning program for the R 32 on this website: http://www.wendland-tuning.de Stage 4 kit is 3.4 litre conversion with 310PS and 360 Nm
Mook
310PS/360Nm = 305BHP/365LbFt ( conversion tables here - found using Google - scroll down the page ) - not a whole load more for going to 3.4 litre - as their pricing is "on request", I don't reckon you'd get much change out of at least £4-5K. Go for the AmD Stage 4 at 300+ for £3K, IMO. Although being in Aus, it's probably a bit far to travel to Wendland or AmD...
Rachel
Not really. Guy Harding just sold his tuning/maintenance/bits business Harding European (in outer Brisbane) to ASV. He's gone full time on selling the APR stuff among other things, so you've just got to track him down somewhere on the northeast coast of Oz. Dan32
Sixdegrees - surely all that engine work is going to add up to more than the blower/charger option and still not get the same horsepower. 3k for 330bhp charger or 3k for 300+ AmD stage 4. Thats why its popular way of extracting power.
FiftyPence
Its a turbo all the way for me, very worries about insurance costs though First things first though, ill get my license back in September and see how i like the 280bhp first
