Bastards!

As I was leaving the house this morning I noticed what at first looked like thick black tar marks on the nearside of the rear bumper, just behind the wheel.

I then took a closer look....and some twat has scraped along the car with their bumper!

There are marks about 12-18 inches down the bumper that will probably polish out, but the very edge that is next to the wheel (the arch area) has about 8" of paint taken off it vertically.

I know where this has happened too...because when I was in Leeds yesterday it was parked in area where no-one else can park - so it wasn't there....but on the way back I called off at a Sainsburys.....enough said. It wasn't there the previous day either because I gave the car a quick wash before putting it in the garage on the night.

Of course you could say what do I care, because it goes tomorrow.

However, it's easily going to be spotted by the garage and I'd have to tell them (I couldn't just hand it in like this).

If I'm lucky they'll take care of it, if I'm not then I reckon I'm going to get a paint bill for a few hundred quid.

Fecking bastards. I guess I should be pleased it wasn't the 6 though.

What dung.gif luck. frown.gif

Why do people do these things, can they not drive?

It always seems to happen just before you change the car as well.

Clean it up as best you can and hope for the best. I'm sure you'll be able to blag it at the dealers and like you said, at least it wasn't the new car.

Nightmare!!

People think I'm barmy as I always park miles away from any other cars as Sainsbury's for precisely this reason!!

Ever noticed though that when you park away from all the other cars, some tw@t comes and parks right beside you?? crazy.gif

mad.gif feckers ! Its almost impossible to keep anything looking new these days -my Boxster lasted 6 days before someone opened a car door in to it smashfreakB.gif

At least it wasn't the 6 - hopefully thats your 'occasional parking dink' that everyone gets done for the next few years 169144-ok.gif

Well I'm going to start doing the 'use 2 spaces' trick that a few people on here use.

It's not as if this is a door-opening-in-the-wind-dent (which is bad enough and I certainly feel for Bazza on a car that is only a matter of days old). It's really a fecking nasty scrape and someone has obviously thought 'aw sh1t' and legged it as quickly as possible (because I was only in there 10 minutes).

I just couldn't do this. I could NOT hit another car and then leave the scene without speaking to the owner or leaving my details.

The worrying thing is that the M3 rear bumper is a complete section....so if they say the whole fecking thing needs replacing I'm looking at a very big bill.

I have used all manner of tactics to prevent my car from being clattered in car parks.

I have to park in town centres, building sites, supermarkets, run-down areas etc.

After 2 years and 4 months, the car is still "ding free" which amazes me.

Supermarket car parks are by far the worst places IMO. Is has to be said a lot of mums and pensioners just don't seem to give a feck how they park and whether they clatter their doors into yours.

We shop at Asda and there is a remote spot a good 300 yards from the door. I always take up 2 places here (no-one else parks there anyway) and this is largely why no-one has dinged my car yet.

Arrrghhhh!!!

My most annoying one was on the new Astra - Wet paint all over a hedge on a very narrow lane (no idea how it got there) which deposited itself in splatters down one side.

Supermarket car parks are the worst though - Always park as far away as I can to avoid tight crowded bits!

A while ago I saw a group of chavs in some shited up chav mobile parking on the sea front nearish to here and they decided to park up next to an Impreza WRX and go in to the parking spot with their eyes closed or something, because you just heard this almighty scraping sound along the back right side (presumably a similar place to where yours is MrMe?)

THEN They stopped...looked behind them...and carried on, scraping even more of it...THEN reversed and straightened up.

Fecking bastards.

It's terrible that that's happened to your car 2 days before you're trading it in; I just hope you don't have to pay sh1tloads to get it put right. It's just dung.gif and I'm sorry to hear about it!

Was once taking a Fiat Coupe up the A1 to trade it in and pick up the new car. Hit a pheasant and smashed up all the front bumper / valance. Dealer was really good about it and said he would sort it.

Good luck m8, as others have said, at least it wasn't the new toy.

Si.

Mums now starting to pick up my tactic of parking at the back of the car park at the supermarket, in the middle of 2 spaces, because her car has numerous dings from supermarkets.

I've been accosted a couple of times by staff complaining about my parking, i walk them round my car, showing the various car park dings, and ask if the supermarket will pay if any extra ones appear due to the undersized car parking spaces, and they always leave me to it.

It seems the dings and dents only really happen to people with s****y cars. I always park my car right at the front of Morrisons (either near the staff door or the main entrance, depends if I finish when it's closed or not) and I never get anything happen to my car.

Oh except the other day in the Leeds one... that pissed me off so much I wrote a note saying 'learn how to park, arsehole' and stuck it under their wiper blade...

...then I felt bad as I drove away.

znaika.gif For all those who are thinking of using two spaces, Stop and don't.

If its a huge supermarket car park with loads of free spaces then fair enough.

But if its a busy car park with few free spaces don't be so fecking selfish.

I have a nice big scrape mark on the front of my car, the first blemish found last week, its dinted the bonnet and scrapped the paint more than a t-cut can sort. Nothing that two spaces would have helped with, it was probably the rear of a 4x4 nothing else would be so high.

But I just hate selifish parkers that can't park between a set of lines. smashfreakB.gifopenfire.gifopenfire.gifslap.gifthe_finger.gifFIREdevil.gif ****ers. suicide.gif

And breath out...

True story : Mate had just bought a new car so he decided (to avoid dings) to cycle to Sainsbury's (Blackhall, Edinburgh), to get some fresh air and took a back pack as he was only getting a few odds and sods.

Padlocks bike at entrance to store, goes in, buys goods to only come out and find his bike had been nicked!! Sainsbury's deny all responsibility and he had to get a taxi home!!

Sainsbury's now have these cubicles to lock bikes up, outside the store.

Take car, get £200 worth of dings!

Take bike, get it nicked!

Take shank's pony, get soaked in this beautiful Summer weather!!

Bad news and bad luck on that MrMe

This usually happens when you are going to part ex a car! It has happened to me!!!

Done a deal on my Ren 25 GTX to get a Lancia Thema. Coming out of a car park, A tight corner and then the ticket machine. Getting close to it and CRUNCH! Big hole throught the palstic/fibreglass bumper! D'oh!

Naturally, I parked the car so they did not see the hole when I part ex'd...............(whistles as he walks away....)

Did guilt kick in..........errrr no.

IF this were me I would do one of two things:

1 Get chipsaway round pdq to repair it before giving to dealer

or

2 Phone the dealer asap to let them know.

The dealer has a buyer already - it is possible that this buyer will be coming to see it this weekend and they may not have time to fix the problem before then if they dont discover it until tomorrow. You may need to give them your car a day early and drive a loaner till yours is ready. If you give them this courtesy they *may* be less likely to charge you (too much) for the repair, especially if you stress that you are being nice and helpful as you know there is a sale pending.

A real bummer however you see it, although at least it is not the new car. However infuriating it is, at least your enjoyment of the new car will not be tainted by knowing it has already been repaired.
