AudiPartner
Drive it like I drove mine and you'll be lucky to see 20mpg!! Drive it like a gay and you should see nearer 30. Do it - top car!
Hopsta
I think in the real world you'll see circa 27, but obviously ragging and traffic light GP'ing and that will soon drop.
Mo-S3
23.1 around town and 31.2 on the motorway with a very heavyright foot; speeds varying around 90, 95 to 120-125 kmh of course
doogal1972
Between 20-30mpg depending on your driving style and invironment you're driving within. It's good on the motorway, not so good if caining it from the lights all the time. 300- 360miles out of a full tank of fuel. If you rag it all the time, probably about 260miles. Oh, and it'll cost about 55 quid to fill up.
jules_s3
Driving it half sensibly you can get 34+ mpg.
doogal1972
Any how, I can't complain cos it's so much better on fuel compared to the Mini Cooper S I used to own. That's was a joke!! 14-18mpg FFS!!!
Wallachie
I'm getting a pretty constant 26mpg with mixed motorway and city centre driving, from my remapped S3. 14-18mpg from a mini?? That's just ridiculous for a 1.6! My mate gets that from his 400bhp Evo!
doogal1972
I know, absolute joke. I think it's the supercharger that does it. It winds up and and you can watch the fuel gauge drop! Plus, it's real drivers car and you feel like you want to drive it hard most of the time as it's so rewarding. I don't think that's bad mpg out of an Evo at all, especially with 400bhp on tap! Why I love my S3 so much is because it's a perfect mix between a smooth cruising car and a part time hooligan! Best car I've ever owned by a country mile! Oh and the quattro...say no more!! fjfr
My average is 21.7mpg. That's pretty much all city driving, so short trips, stop, start, traffic lights, traffic. Grumble. My last long motorway journey (London - Glasgow), managed to get 520 miles out of the tank tho! (Truly boring drive, drivin 55 the whole way) Normal motorway stuff comes out at 30 - 35, which is ok. AudiPartner
[ QUOTE ] thats a bit of a drop from mi tdi but whats money when u can have so much fun in an s3. what sort of price is a good s3 going for? something like £9000+ [/ QUOTE ] A good S3 will cost more like £13k-£15k. £11-£12k will buy a nice one, £9k is as cheap as they get (you know the type, 1999 V reg, Green with blue interior, 90,000 miles...) You'll have to spend a bit more really.
roohster
worrying about mpg for an S3 is kinda missing the point, even though petrol is now officially more expensive than diamonds.....
