Ecosse79
I picked up my new R32 yesterday from Wales which has covered 26,500 miles. I notice there is a knocking noise coming from the front end whilst manoeuvring at low speed, possibly from the steering rack. Anyone else experienced this problem. mulkbear
Is the knocking nosie when you turn the steering from side to side or when you go over a bump at low speeds ? 1. If it is when moving the steering it could be the track rod is worn (very common problem) 2. If it is when you go over a bump at low speeds it could be the roll bar drop link arm"s" (also very common problem) It is very rare to find a vehicle with a worn steering rack with low mileage Why not phone your local vw dealer and book your car in for a free "vehical health check" and trust me they will find the problem as they have got to try and claim the money back that they have lost giving your car a free health check ! dogbucket
Clunking when you turn the steering at parking speed in my experience was the front shock top mount bearings. Another common fault Will be covered by warranty
R32North
Yep, mine did this and they replaced the strut top mounts and ARB links.
