mattcony
[ QUOTE ] Matt without wishing to go too far off topic what was the MPH show like ? If you've ever been t the live action at Autosport International was it a bit like that ? Cheers [/ QUOTE ] Been to the AutoSport shows as well yer It was very good, not quite as many show stands to see but lots of cars on display to go sit in and touch !. The Show was very good, floating cars, helicopter gun ships, blowing up speed camera vans. Plenty of banter between Clarkson, Hamond and Tiff. Quite a few display teams to watch as well, but the show is more main stream with production cars where as the auto sport show is more rally and motorsports style. The show also had adverts in between ok they were real display adverts with teams of drivers but was still a bit odd to see. Worth it though for a good afternoon out when its cold and wet outside Cheers matt

CraigR
[ QUOTE ] I was in Aberdeen VW this morning to enquire, they are expecting 5 - 6 cars as their full allocation for this/next year , and were asked by VW to use their first as a demo, these cars are all spoken for, the manager will not use one as a demo,no test drives for anyone!!, all will be sold to the people who have paid their deposits. They did not know when their first one would arrive, and the info they are recieving from VW UK is slow...... [/ QUOTE ] Just had a phone call from VW, the R32 has arrived in Aberdeen this morning, they have HAD to put it on as a demo ,instructed by VW UK. It is currently being prepaired, i will see if i can drop in for some pics later this afternoon, he has not seen the car yet so could not give me any idea of the spec. But he did tell me if i order one today, it will be a minimum of 6 months before i see it

silentandy
Anyone know of any demo cars in the Birmingham area?
R32North
Does this sound like VW planning the game, either a) make it practically unavailable so everyone will want one and pay the extar £££s VW are asking b) testing the water as the 'general' feedback is that its not the looker or goer that people were expecting. I'm inclined to think its the latter.
Gabster
I have just had VW Birmingham call me they are getting one in on Friday and I am test driving it Saturday at noon, I will take a few pictures and post them. I have expressed no interest in this car with them, and wont be getting one, just interested how it matches my old Mark IV R32. I am seeing the new Caymen on the 21st so its gonna be a good week for test driving new cars.
TP27
I have spoken to my dealer. Their Demo (5dr Dark Grey - whoop-dee-doo!) should arrive tomorrow. My Test Drive will likely be early next week depending on when it's taxed etc. I will take my Digi Camera with me and report back!!

Smudge
Bland. Thats one word I'd use to describe it. And someone's knicked the headrest, or is that a FF optional extra too?
Soulboy
Having looked over one for a long time this weekend, I have come to the conclusion that it is not as 'butch' and looks far more feminine than the mk4. Im sure it drives well, and all those who buy will be well pleased though. I am trying so hard to like this car, but it should have been so much better - if you take the GTI as the model which they should have improved on. It should have been an absolute sizzler in every department. And Lodrick likes it, which must count against it.

R32North
Well, I managed to get on the R32 Configurator, and just specing it to what I want, not maxing it out, mine would come to £27,350!!!!! That is essentially what I have now with the odd wee thing extra throw in, and not even leather Can't see me buying one, even if there was one availbale in my local VW. TP27
My old R, full spec and bought new, would have been £28,000. I'm not sure what all the fuss on the price of the new R is all about. It's not massively more expensive than the original R, there's just a lot more add-ons available now??
R32North
[ QUOTE ] What would yours have cost to the same spec? [/ QUOTE ] Mine was £23k, and a standard car so £23k it was!! I only added about £1000 worth of extras over what mine has now, ie 6CD in dash, etc. I had to add heated seats, winter pack, Reccaros, etc etc to make it an equivalent spec of my current car. It doesn't mean you can have the same kit as the GTi and if you want the top-of-the-range 'accessories' you'll have to pay for them! Pretty much most of what is now a cost-extra was standard, in relation to my car. I know leather, Sat Nav, SR, etc were extras before.
