Drinks
Just popped into the supermarket at the local retail park. Parked a good distance away, with loads of vacant spaces around me. Come back to find a Micra resting against my rear bumper. So do the sensible thing pull forward a bit to see if there is any damage. Toddle back round to the back of the car and phew no marks. Go to grab some paper from the glove box to write a polite note and walk back to find the micra resting against my bumper again. The fecker hasn't put his handbrake on. Seperate the cars again and stand holding them apart. Now then I've got a little dilema. What do you do? Can't drive off as some poor bugger in the next aisle is going to come back to find a Micra resting against their pride and joy. Search frantically in the boot of my car for something to wedge under the Micra's tyre to no avail.. Thankfully it's not cold as I set in to wait for the dozy owner. 20 minutes later here he comes. First words " has the hand brake come off" It transpires that it's happened before. The broken number plate was a bit of a give away. Try to explain to dumbo that perhaps he might want to get it looked at before something more serious occurs. Will he though? I doubt it! so annoying

mccombie_5
What a tit! This annoys me, I saw a woman do it the other day. I had dropped my son off in college, I sat in the car park and opened a can of coke, started to drink it, and accross the road an Isuzu Trooper stops at a bus stop, woman gets out walks to the back door, reaches for the handle and it is no longer there, her car is rolling along at this point, so she runs after it and jumps in accross the seat, meanwhile a bus has to stop about 30 yards past the stop becuse shes in it. She stopped her car escaping but it sure as hell was funny seeing her run down the road after her car.

[/ QUOTE ] Indeed, I politely suggested that this and parking with tyre resting against a kerb would be suitable interim options. If all else fails just keep the thing away from other vehicles. DaddyDub
[ QUOTE ] I might suggest that he left his car in gear next time. [/ QUOTE ] Surly that is commen sense, ok he's an idiot for owning a Micra (you never know it might be his wife's car), but I would always leave it in gear even on a slight hill, Handbrakes are not full proof and can slip as the disc's on a car cool down. Problem_Child
What was he thinking? "It doesn't matter if the handbrake fails, there's loads of cars around to stop it rolling away"? Some people!
pritesh
Stuff like this is all too common...it really begs the question how some people pass their driving tests! I live on a hill and even tho my car is an Auto I always make sure the handbrake is firmly applied...I seen it all too often while washin my pride and joy watching cars roll down my rd. I even once saw one roll down and smash into a front garden...wrecked the whole garden. the owner had the nerve to try and say it wasnt his [email protected] took pictures of the car with its handbrake down for my neighbour. The car owner payed out in full after seeing the photos

[/ QUOTE ] There is no way I could do that, once I knew. I was tempted not to look at the damage and drive off just putting it down to 'one of those things life throws at you'. Who knows what would have happened, could have squashed a child or anything. Unlikely, I know but there are consequences, for looking the other way. Where's your Christmas spirit? jc1303
It happened to me once, think that might have been a micra too. Parked up outside the newsagents on my way to work, get out of the car and walk towards the shop then notice the micra rolling slowly back into the front of my car. I stood outside and waited for the micra owner to come out of the shop then told her 'You didnt put your handbrake on, your car was rolling away'. Look of panic in her eyes. I then said in my most sarcastic voice 'Fortunately it didnt go far as it stopped when it hit my car' Her reply? 'Oh good, thank you' She then got back in her car and drove off. I was so gobsmacked I didnt get time to
