Wallachie
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] It might even have the 60/40 Haldex system like the new S4/RS4. [/ QUOTE ] Wishful thinking Mills - the S4 and RS4 use the Torsen full time 4WD system - the S3 is likely to have the same Haldex 4WD as the last model, TT, R32 etc... [/ QUOTE ] According to some reports, the new TT will have the capability to put up to 60% to the rears, I'm hoping the new S3 will be the same. It probably won't though, but I'm gonna hold out hope, just like I do for Santa every year!
Mollox
I read that the 60/40 split was only something on the bread van concept and that the production would get the 'usual' Haldex split....? Mind you, I think that was in Autocarp

Mollox
And hmm....mixed reactions as to whether I like it... - HATE the wheels (wtf are they? Tell me they're not going to be on the prod car??) - Steering wheel is hideous - Is it really that "S" like?? 272bhp is pleasing though Couldn't properly make out the "S3" badge on the wheel so did wonder if it might be some sort of S line but you can see the "S3" clearly on the rev counter Jury's still out! Mook
The colour kills it for me. Anyone with decent Photoshop skills who can knock up one in black? It wouldn't be as quick as a blue one, but it would look better...

Wallachie
[ QUOTE ] Wow, I can hardly wait.......... (coughs) [/ QUOTE ] I was wondering when you would pop your Bavarian head in Lodders! Those wheels are sh1te, they're off the standard A3 Sport. Looking more closely though, they seem really lost in the arches.....I had a look at my colleagues A3 sport and his wheels fill the arches much more. Hopefully that's a sign the new S3 has wider arches! It's also missing the grey moulding on the side that the old S3 had, and like the current S4 has. Mollox
It may well grow on me but, is it really "S" enough?
RedRobin
Initial impression....Yuk! I would like to like it but I don't see anything which floats my boat and it doesn't matter how well built or what its performance is like....A car also has to have looks which instantly appeal. The only Audis which are doing anything for me currently are those whose model version begins with the letter 'R'.

Mollox
I'd go with that - just look at the tread... Yes, shame but Audi seem to be moving away from the pointless silver stick-on bits that I do like. I'd have expected to have seen ally mirrors on it but perhaps that's part of the "it isn't an S3" disguise...?
Mollox
I wonder if its of any significance that the 3rd car in that convoy (an S/RS of some description) is US spec? </praying>
harddrive
One thing I noticed that on the inside picture of the car the RNS-E sat nav looks different. There is a slot along the top for a CD which makes it look like Symph but then the volume control on the bottom right looks like the one on the RNS-E... Anyone have any ideas?? R32North
Look to me like they've gone the same route as the new R32. Much less 'out there' as a spotrs looking / agressive model. Also, you could easily buy a 2.0T FSI Quattro and tune it yourself to get that kind of HP. Lopp on some decent brakes and suspension and you'd have an S3! I'm hoping the spec reveals more than the Spy pics otherwise its going to be a let down

R32North
Been thinking about more baout the enw R32 and new S3, and it seem to me that these two cars are to complete the existing line up of the respective ranges, as the Top-o-the-Line sport models. Neither is a seperate, limited run, true mini-super car, al-la RS, M, Evo or MAG type. Now VAG wouldn't want to leave gap in the market like that so what are VW and Audi going to do.....? I think there is a place in both VW and Audi for a more agressive car from the A3 and MKV Golf!!
P_G
Having owned an S3 the only thing that impresses me about the new one is metal pedals. Otherwise it's pretty naff, power ain't that great and it won't be tempting me back. B7 RS4 is definitely the way forward.
Darkside
I think someone has confused the pictures, maybe the interior pics are legit, but the outside pics have been swapped for an entry level 1.

Audi wouldn't make the Ultimate A3 look like a 1.6, indistinguishable from other models, surely they'd only do that to a car that was aprt of a defined range...... and the 'Special' edition version would look like it was a step apart from the rest! Just look a the S4 and RS4 !!!!!
loddrik
It looks shite, and I am not saying this from the usual 'lodders in Audi bashing shocker'. I had 2 S3's and loved them both, OK, they were pretty dull to drive, but the pride of ownership was immense, I still stop to look when I see one go past now and still think they look great. This new one just looks dull as dishwater. Long live the old S3
Riz
I would say that Audi will make changes to the car yet, including the alloys and lower front spoiler etc. I actually like it and think that the colour is making the car look abit wrong in my opinion.... 272bhp sounds intresting though... should have atleast 360Nm and should see 0-62mph in under the 6 second mark using DSG. All looks very promising. Riz
Thorburn
Treason I know but I neither really enjoyed driving the one I tried and they don't really look that special to look at. Just not my kinda thing.
Paul
why are we going back to black bumper bits from colour coded??? ok its a spy pic, and hopefully not the finished article, but they brought the Golf Gti out with half finished bumpers!
