Chris_B
[ QUOTE ] This was a massive web of lies, cars, houses, jobs, children, wives, parents, and it did have an impact on the TSN community. Look at this thread with 44 replies: http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/629563/an/0/page/0#629563 and see Chris B's detailed description of how to test an RS6. [/ QUOTE ] You know, I'd forgotten about that, perhaps I should be more pissed off than I am, given the time I put in to try and help a newbie and make TSN 'sticky' for new visitors. But I'm not; Google loves TSN and perhaps some day that post will help somebody else who's thinking of an RS 6 test drive.
fjfr
I just remember reading that at the time and thinking how knowelagable & friendly TSN is. That post stuck in my mind when all this B/S came out.

P_G
Well this thread has been a complete laugh. Me personally, bollocks to McCockbie_5, I won't be forgiving him because I don't feel I need to as much as I don't need to lie about who I am on an internet forum. I'm not saying ban him as it is a public forum, but I, like others won't be breaking my back to repsond to whatever he posts. That is a very, very sad existence to have to fabricate on so many sites, next time go and have a **** like MOSE suggested. MrMe, ScoTTy, DJBS4 et al, I'm with you. and before anyone tries to jumpo on my comments, each to their own. I suppose we'll see McCombie on Sunday on his mountain bike then? RedRobin
Hmmm.....Some of you guys keep on about the "joy" of TSN yet sound to me from your posts that you are consumed with bitterness over this mccombie episode. You feel strongly about his behaviour and you express it - That's fine of course....Each one of us is entitled to our opinion - But this sort of stuff really doesn't merit such drama queen reactions. Why can't some of you put all this in real-world perspective? It's all so trivial....Some arsehole or teenage kid succeeds for a time in deceiving a bunch of car nuts on a web site....So what? Okay, press your 'ignore buttons'....What does it achieve? - Just continued bitterness and negativity. If, as a result of this, some of you are going to give every newcomer the third degree and frighten them away, who's in control of such behaviour? - Only yourselves, no-one else. I see too much "joy" on this site being at someone else's expense, at least when actual cars aren't being discussed.

BenjaminTDI
I just caught up with this thread from when I first replied to it a couple of days ago and I am shocked at what has transpired. I don't think it's funny or entertaining. I'm still not entirely sure why mc5 has done this, and I don't believe it was out of 'boredom' either, I think there is a very troubled and lonely person who craves acceptance and attention and has gone completely the wrong way about getting it, as has been said before lying is very serious on boards like this that are so close knit, as some of the things these boards are connected with (meets/trackdays) must have a certain degree of trust, because personally I want to trust people online before I meet them in real life. I hope mc5 realises what he has done is wrong, because I actually think there is a decent person behind all this. I will give mc5 a second chance because I feel he's earned it after posting a real life pic and owning up to what he did and trying to explain why he did it, instead of disappearing and leaving us all never knowing for sure whether he was a fake or not. I just hope he learns his lesson that you only need to be yourself. I firmly disagree with everyone who has refused to give mc5 a second chance. I think he deserves a second chance, making him an outcast by excluding/ignoring him is not the answer to making TSN a safer place. mc5 I hope to see you around on here, and you can PM me if you ever need anything. Daz
I think it's all about time we moved on and put this episode behind us. We've all had our say and made our own decisions on the matter. How each member wants to handle this going forward is up to them. Let's just get back to the Joy that is TSN. Scotty
I moved on after my post. I can't believe how many people have wasted so much time constructing detailed posts about it. I have a big thing about trust and liars and it appears many others don't. We've all had a chance to express our thoughts and I think this should be locked and put to bed. chazzy
WOW, war and peace all over again. I'm relatively new here and have sometimes felt that i have to "earn" respect to have my posts replied to. I don't post much, usualy only when i think i can offer something others can't (not often) but do read alot. Felt i wanted to add a little..(is this an official record attempt yet?) Mc5 obviously had issues and has upset somepeople but he is a 16 yr old writing like an adult (or most of us thought) We don't let people that age vote becuase they still have some growing up to do . I teach in a sec school, and there are all sorts there, some i'd like to chat to as "friends" and many that wouldn't be able to keep a pretenece up for more than 3 sentences yet alone a normal conversation. Good on you Mc5 for coming back, i hope it all works out for you. Whats the college course in... hopefully something creative! Booster
I was glued to this thread last night but I think its run its course. Everyone has had their say and agreement is never going to be reached. I reckon it should be lockedand we get back to doing what we do best: Talking about cars and having proper banter. mccombie_5
Thanks to those who wish me well. I assure you I really am sorry, I know to some of you I've behaved unforgivabely (is that a word?) and I didn't expect as many people to be so understanding. I am willing to try and earn the trust, or at least acceptance of those members, I really want to do that. I want to stay on TSN, its a good place, with good members, and I sort of soiled that. Life is picking up, I feel no need to lie. I had planned to disappear, but if I stay, I know some of the members will still talk to me, and who knows, in time others might. SNOWMAN
I just resigned my commission at CarTalkCanada due to a disagreement with Admin on the directions on our forum. I had my stripes removed and therefore walked out the front door with my pride. I am too hard on trolls apparently. Kind of sad after +9000 posts and three years . It has been an interesting few days to say the least. I may have to hang out here for a while.
