AudiPartner
I'm after a plate for the skyline which is in letter-single number-letter-letter-letter format (A1 AAA) but they want £499 for it. It seems that this is there "standard charge" for this format of plate. So I'm wondering whether they ever run some kind of sale when I can pick it up a bit cheaper. S3ENVY
It's a shame, but as far as I know the DVLA never have sales. For plates in the format "A? AAA" with low letters in the alphabet such as "A" they are always around the £500 mark. I managed to get "S* TSN" not long ago for £250 which was reasonable. Starts with an "S" though and there's where the difference in price seems to be!
v15ben
Depends on the initial letter of the plate and I think plates beginning with A are still more expensive than anything else!
AudiPartner
The one I'm after starts with a "G".
shao_khan
Never seen them have a sale, but plates I have brought have either been £250 or £500. No idea on their logic for prices though, except obviously when its misrepreseted and makes something good it costs more.

PeterS
at the moment they don't even seem to have a working website to buy them from , though the main DVLA website is working...

I noticed on the DVLA site they have a section full of plates ending "4 DAM". Being called Adam, these appeal to me but they are all expensive. Just below the list they kindly ask that if you intend to misrepresent the plate, they'd rather you didn't buy. What a bunch of to55ers.
AvantSE
Some plates on there are reduced. I am looking at G10VRC which kind of spells my name, and they have knocked £100 off.

AvantSE
Erm, Glover... and my initial is C. Seems pretty obvious to me ! TBH it's to disguise the age of the car, and anyone who knows me will figure it out for themselves... and anyone who doesn't know me, well I don't care whether they know what it means !
