sayerbloke
Simply enough poll, just put ticks in the boxes of any you think qualify as a "supercar" List is far from exhaustive obviously, just a random selection where some will be more obvious than others
Woppum
You are missing lambos, pagani and the other exotica. or is that the intention? I put Ford GT, 430 and the SL65 which would probably destroy both in a straight line!
sayerbloke
[ QUOTE ] You are missing lambos, pagani and the other exotica. or is that the intention? [/ QUOTE ] It was intentional. I can't see too many people saying a Lamborghini isn't a supercar. I suspect everyone will say the 430 is, but I wanted one where there wasn't much doubt. Pincher
I think there are very few true supercars. And in any case, what exactly defines a 'supercar'? Exclusivity? Top Speed? In my mind, the McLaren F1 is one, without a doubt. So is the Jaguar XJ220. A very subjective issue, to which I feel there is no particular answer. For the record, I voted 'None of the above'
DanG
I think to qualify as a true Supercar there has to be an air of exclusivity about the vehicle. By that I dont just mean expensive, but also limited in production, or availabilty, so that it instantly becomes the unatainable dream for kids everywhere, as the Mac F1, and XJ220 were in their day. So probably anything made by Lotus, Jag, Dodge, Mitsubishi and BMW etc even Porsche (not the GT) and Merc (not the SL65 made by Maclaren) should be out the door maybe, based on the fact that everyone can buy one..... That said they are all 'super' cars! apart from the Ariel Atom, which I still find just weird!
sayerbloke
The person who said "none of the above" should probably now tell us what their idea of a supercar is

garcon magnifique
I ticked Ford GT, F430, Moesler, Noble M400 and SL65. Though I do now tend to agree with what Dan and Pincher said... Just out of interest, of those sayerbloke listed evo magazine's The Knowledge lists the F430 and Ford GT as supercars. It also lists the Viper GTS-R and 911 GT2, GT3 & Turbo, but not the standard versions. And it lists the Saleen S7 so I suspect it would/will at some point include the Moesler which is practically the same.
shao_khan
I had a Citroen Dyane 6 - that was a super car considering what it cost me, couldnt fault it.

NewNiceMrMe
Ironic isn't it - that one of the cheapest cars up on that list would be first past the post in most races....the Noble M400. Cue Woppum with his SL65 wet dream any second.

sayerbloke
[ QUOTE ] I'm amazed so many people consider the DB9 a Supercar. [/ QUOTE ] It's stacking up very well currently. Those above ten votes [with 30 people having voted]: 430 - 23 votes GT - 22 votes DB9 - 14 votes NSX & M400 - 12 votes
garcon magnifique
[ QUOTE ] Hmmm. Maseratis? Lister Storm? Corvette C6 Z06? Marcos TSO? [/ QUOTE ] All listed (in evo) as "Coupés/GTs", except for the Lister which isn't listed at all. I'd certainly put a case for the Z06.
fjfr
It has to be: A) Fast B) Good Looking (or at least interesting..) C) Stupidly Expensive D) Have a story - Fastest car in the world/gold engine/killed a racing driver etc etc E) Totally impractical (no boot/rear vis/clutch replaced every mile etc) Then it's a supercar! Pincher
I just don't see the 430 as a Supercar - sorry. And of the list prepared by evo - I'd pick less than 10 as one. Just cos it's evo doesn't make it definitive
NewNiceMrMe
[ QUOTE ] Just cos it's evo doesn't make it definitive [/ QUOTE ] Agreed, and the last 3 issues have proven that impeccably - it's been utter pants.
