mellie
I have recently bought a golf mark 4 02 reg 1.9 tdi (red di). There seems to be some confusion as to what bhp the car has. Some say 115 others 130 due to the red di. I hope someone can answer this as the debate is driving me nuts! Sparky
If it's an 02 plate, it's the 130bhp model. The red I was for 115's.
djcool
From what little I know about them, I thought the red I was 110 and the red DI was 130.........
Mook
There's actually zip all clarity on this, because some dealers changed the badges. To confuse it even more, there's four versions of the TD PDI engine - 110, 115, 130 and 150. Depending on the year, VW badged them in different ways - you could even get the 150 TDI badged as a GTI (not a GT TDI) Confused? Not much... mellie
The car was registered in April 2002. Is there any way to clarify?

Either that, or get the emissions from the V5C in g/km and compare it to the g/km for the 110 and
drpellypo
Yes, if you check with the stealers, they can reference the vin details and tell you for sure.
Snail
In the spare wheel well, there should be a little sticker that says the specs of your car, and on that there should be a PS figure. 110 is 66PS if i remember correctly.

Mook
Divide the BHP by 1.0139 to get back to PS, so: 110 bhp = 108 PS 115 bhp = 113 PS 130 bhp = 128 PS 150 bhp = 147 PS But it might be quoted in KW in the car (not sure), so divide by 1.3405 110 bhp = 82 KW 115 bhp = 86 KW 130 bhp = 97 KW 150 bhp = 112 KW HTH
Rustynuts
Which car did they put the 110 pd engine in? edit: To convert from metric to imperial horsepower, divide the PS figure by 1.0139. So 130ps = 128.2 bhp etc.
mulkbear
If you look of the cambelt cover it will have Three letters ANU, AXR = 90Bhp 66Kw ATD = 100Bhp 74Kw AJM, AUY = 115Bhp, 85Kw ASZ = 131Bhp 96Kw ARL = 150Bhp 110Kw

martin275
You can’t tell anything from the TDI badges, you need to make further checks as detailed above. Using the Passat as an example, the red ‘i’ initially meant that it had the 110bhp engine and then when the 115bhp PDI engine was launched, that had a red ‘di’. All very simple and easy to understand! However, when they face lifted it, both the 100bhp and 130bhp models had a red ‘di’ until more recently when they went back to plain badges for the 100bhp model and a red ‘i’ for the 130bhp version.
