As many of you may know i have a XR3I Cabby which i have spent the last 10 month restoring and is now finished (taxed and tested), i am yet to drive this car more than 2 miles and three of my car dealer mates have made me a offer.

1. Has offered me a £2000 or a Hilux surf (with a blown cylinder head gasket), which i refused.

2. Has offered me £1500 and a Audi 80 Coupe, which i refused (Very tempted but refused)

3. Has offered me a "offer i can not refuse", which is in the form of a totally mint, low mileage, classic red,

K reg, Ford Escort RS2000 EEK2.GIF (2.0 16V RS engine) 145Bhp as standard

It is one of them cars that i have always wanted but could not find a good one and this one is mint.

When he offered it to me as a straight swap, i got a shiver up my spine, as the xr3i was not supposed to be for sale and i am so very tempted. What should i do TSN ?

Sorry but that is possibly the worst car to ever wear the RS badge, its that or the Fiesta RS1800.

Stick with the XR3 Cab, you've spent a lot of time getting it right and you'll enjoy it far more than the RS2000, especially when you realise its not really mint as 110,000 miles of abuse become apparent.

At first I thought you were talking about a Mk1 RS2000, but then realised that the earliest example would have been 'L' reg and it would have been 8-valve and 100bhp. A mint, low-mileage Mk1 would have been fun (or even the 'droop-snoot' Mk2).

I once borrowed an RS1800 fiesta from work. It was quite possibly the worst Ford i've ever borrowed. I had more fun in a Ka. It was absolutely sh!t slow, had no charisma whatsoever, and was basically a dull 1.8 dropped in a Fiesta.

Can't imagine the Escort is any better. crazy.gif

Better off with a Mk3 GTI 16v or a mint Pug 205 1.9

Keeping the XR3, but i am trying to cut a deal on the RS2000 as i have do some snooping and found out he only paid £450 for it (ripped off another car dealer). So would have been a fool to do a swap. Plus i am going to the first car dealer (with hilux), garage/workshop/car dealership on Saturday to have a look around he has give me a list of the vehicle he has in and the prices to me.
