opinions on 3.0tdi avant

Hi guys, considering an avant soot chucker as the next car for my wife. DIlemma is, do I got for the 2.0tdi or the 3.0tdi. I test drove a 1.9 (130) about 2 years ago but thats as far as it went. Can anyone offer opinions on both, tuneability etc.

I'm doing some research into prices etc for work on just that car.

The 3.0TDi has a heap more power and would scare even some of us S4 drivers and comes with Quattro as standard, so the one I would recommend. But when you put some toys on it it does creep into S4 price territory too.

The 2.0TDi is a good car, decently priced with better mpg and both are tuneable, depends on your budget and driving style I suppose.

I had a FWD 1.9 TDi 130 chipped to 170, had too much torque for the front wheels to cope with so it was a complete dog in the wet - wheels spun whe trying to move off no matter how gentle I was on the loud pedal.

I would say that quattro is a must on the 2.0 TDI 170.

If I had to have a soot chucker again I'd go for the 3.0TDi - until Audi see sense and make an S4D with the 4.2 TDi V8

My remapped 2.5TDi QS Avant was able to keep up (at a safe distance ) with a 3.0Tdi A6 Saloon recently for a couple of miles road with lots of roundabouts so up and down the gearbox a lot!

A remapped 3.0TDi would be awesome!
