bmx
i am still doing my homework on the r32 before i order, i was wondering how many miles you were getting from a full tank of petrol?

vindaloo
Varies but my fuel consumtion is approx. Dual carriageway & motorway run sticking to 'sensible speeds' up to 30mpg A & B road brisk driving with fun factor about 24mpg busy slow speed commuting style 18-20mpg
TP27
This may sound daft but it all depends on your driving. On the last trip to Inverness, mixture of mororway and A roads, I got 320 off the tank before I filled up. It'll go to 340 on a long trip but that's pushing it ! Normal urban driving is only 250 to the tank though. HTH. TP.
bmx
thats not bad at all,the gti drivers are saying 340 miles on average, down to 270 miles . the tanks are the same size arnt they?
TP27
Same tank but with a heavy right foot, the Optimax burns big time regardless !!!
bmx
do you have to use optimax in an r32? or can you use 95ron
Woppum
[ QUOTE ] do you have to use optimax in an r32? or can you use 95ron [/ QUOTE ] My God man!!!! You have to use Optimax or the R runs like a stinker in my opinion. Well worth the extra few quid a year...
TP27
The knock sensors will let you use 95 Ron or 98 Ron Optimax in an R32. Most of us have elected to use Optimax or BP Ultimate but you can alter between each (95 and 98 Ron) on spearate fill-up's. TP.
geo_nr1
The R32 can run on 95....but most guys tend to use 98.
vindaloo
Always used Optimax but happened to need fuel at the weekend & I was near a Tesco selling the 99RON for 98.9p so gave it ago. Can't say I notice a lot of difference to the Opti at the moment.
25thAnni
Filled up yesterday & got 292 miles from a full tank & then driving home like Miss Daisy got 34.4 MPG. I'm sure i read in my Veebub Manual, although someone will probably correct me that the fuel tanks are different sizes between the R32 & GTi. It's something like 50L for GTi & 55L for R32 Hope this helps
Oatz
Just a quick one, I disconnected my battery yesterday whilst I wired an kit amp in. After reconnecting and driving rather briskly the car has been totally transformed it now feels much faster. The car has Optimax only in the tank whilst previously it had some 95 in (kindly put in by the garage...) But in saying this the car is the fastest its ever been feels as though someones sneakily modded the engine I used to do this on my Supra every so often and the difference it made with pure Optimax and an ECU reset made a huge difference
bmx
same as the TT was then really, but tbh i could hardly tell the difference when i put the odd tank of 95ron in it. right im off to wakey VW for another test drive in 20 mins gti and r32 back to back 1/2 an hour each car. i have to pay them £10.95 to insure them because i want to go out on my own without the salesman, but its worth it if it makes my mind up. i have been deliberating for over a month now. khutula
I put some Sainsbury's Super in mine the other day, as if you spent over £50 in the shop you got 5p off a litre. So there super unleaded was £92.9 after the discount!! Runs absolutely fine.
AGK512
re the tank sizes i'm sure it the other way round R32 is deffo 55 litres and I think tge GTI is 60. It has to be smaller to make room for the 4wd gubbins. the boot is shallower too fo the same reason HTH
