shark_90
I can't be arsed to read the whole thread Riz, but you have to stop looking. The more you look, the worse it will be, and all the women will seemingly go into hiding. What you need to do is stop searching, find yourself, and gain some confidence. Once you do that, a woman will find you.

[/ QUOTE ] The internet is not the right place to meet a woman. You might meet a female, but I'm sorry, I don't think you'll ever meet a proper woman. You're in the wrong age group, as am I. Let me explain: 40-somethings - Yes. Friends Reunited etc. Divorcees who are in high-powered or busy jobs and are too busy to go out in bars etc, or feel embarrassed to do that as they feel they should be "hooked up" 30-somethings - Less likely. Still young enough (generally) to enjoy the bar and club scene. Might try a dating site if they have busy jobs as per 40-somethings, but many people in their 30s are still technophobes, and don't know how to properly write a text let alone create a reasonable profile on a dating site, and who bother learning when they can go out and get pissed? 20-somethings - No. 20-somethings do go out, do lunch, have dinner, go clubbing, meet friends, have friends at uni, friends of friends of friends... most 20-somethings in their right mind wouldn't dream of using an internet dating site. It's perceived as sad, as it's used by 40-something divorcees. Usually the only time you'll find 20-somethings on a dating site is either if a) they've run out of options, b) they have "baggage" (usually emotional) or c) they're nymphs who are only after sex. Teenagers - sites like faceparty and bebo and face-pic are ways of communicating and making friends. Thousands of teenagers use them and eventually the "normality" of the internet will filter up as the generations move forward. But for now, for the average 20-30 year old, it's just not "normal" enough to be seen as an avenue to meet someone, unless the conditions in the 20-somethings section apply. Many, many women of our age group are on the internet for a reason. Because they can't find a willing victim by other means. Trust me, from a seasoned professional: Meeting girls on the internet is a waste of time if you're looking for someone who doesn't have a screw loose, within our age band. It's that simple. NeilB
I know what you mean Riz about working funny hours, my social life most of the time is bugger all due to working nights. And besides if you meet someone online and she's got a screw loose, you can always post about it in this thread.

[/ QUOTE ] WTF?? [/ QUOTE ] Well anyone who's a 30-something and using an internet forum is obviously going to totally disagree with me. But if I think of the (many) single 30-somethings I know (outside of TSN), not one of them would dream of using an internet dating site, and not many of them are particularly good at writing text messages, in the same way that they're probably not very good at setting the video. Do you see what I'm getting at? I'm talking about the majority of single 30-something people in the country. They are more likely to go out and find someone than post up a profile on an internet dating site, and the ones that do, you have to admit, usually turn out to be bunny boilers. shark_90
I should have put it better Ari - it's more down to chosen ignorance than capability. But the underlying point is still the same.

RedRobin
I'm only interested in meeting blokes on the internet and they have to be car-nuts. But if they sound nice, I'll meet them for a dinner or lunch date and sometimes we'll go to somewhere with a romantic view like Devil's Dyke (which was originally called Devil's Arsehole). After feeding our faces we often like to play with our boy's toys - I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

shark_90
Actually Ian, you're quite wrong. You have to look at the underlying reason as to why she was on the net in the first place, and then it all becomes clear.
ian_m
Hmmm but that isnt what made your relationship go wrong!! Ok it may have contributed!!
