Yes the cable NTL / Telewest is the same standard, so could be used.

Screwfix sell the RG co-ax, as will most electrical wholesalers. Make sure it has the solid foam core rather than the hollow stuff that was used for analogue TV aerials.

Sat cable

I've got 3 x rolls of the stuff, where are you?

I am in Sheffield mate so a bit far - the cable was used for the Broadband service so I would imagine it would be the sold tuff you mention - do I literally need to cut it off and put a normal coax plug on it?

Here's a slightly different question for you all, do you know if you can get freeview channels via sky but without having a sky card?

I've got Sky+ downstairs so when they installed it, I had a spare box (i've actually got 2 but never mind!) The people that had the house before me had it wired up for multi room so there are cables in the bedroom.

Can I connect up the sky box and get the standard channels (BBC1, ITV.....) without an additional card?

I asked the bloke that did the install and he didn't know (I know I could just plug it in but I can't get to that room at the moment due to there being several large items of furniture in the way!)

I've had Sky and Sky+ installed im my house for the last 6 years (new house...) and in my previous house.

During all that time I've never had the phone plugged in (well maybe for 1/2 an hour!) and never recieved any phone calls threatening £80 etc.

Personally I think Sky's got a bit too big for it's boots these days.

I no longer want movies or sport - both ahve gone downhill bigtime imo yet if I cancel them both I then have to pay to be able to record with Sky+. Yet I've already purchased the hardware to do it!!!

I'm now basically waiting for the BT Vision service to startup. I'll give it a quick check and most likely switch over. At which point Sky will get the bum's rush...
