Dadstoys
Been offered a motorbike in part-ex on a car I have for sale. 2002 Suzuki GSX-R600 K2, moviestar paintwork and lots of carbon. Looks gorgeous. 6000 miles. FSH. Never been dropped. Anyone place a value on it ?
R32Ash
I definitely wouldn't give a penny over £3000 as a p/x; it's worth maybe £3500 in a private sale. If you don't want it for yourself I'd be very cautious about giving a decent price for it - it'll be hell to sell on at this time of the year, and if you end up hanging on to it 4-6 months for the decent weather to arrive, you'll need to insure it. SneakyMcC
[ QUOTE ] moviestar paintwork and lots of carbon. Looks gorgeous. [/ QUOTE ] Did it come from the factory like that. Or was it tarted up cause it has been lobbed?
dukeboy749r
Yep, I agree, who says it's neverbeen dropped? Expensive jobbie to fit carbon panels, one of those ' never get your money back add ons', £3k, are you planning to keep it yourself?
whisky
Its pretty hard to see if a bikes ever been dropped because most parts are easily replaced, I wouldn't buy a bike with race-rep paint unless I knew the owner that did it and why he did it. Its like the guys say, they've usually been down the road. Truth is it's much cheaper to have a rep paint job than replace oem panels etc... Bikes like this are worth more completely standard, where you can see genuine wear and tear.
Dadstoys
Thanks for the info guys. It is an original paint job. I'd got the figure of 3k in mind, but he wants nearer 4k. I'm not bothering as I think this is all its money - even when spring arrives. I think I'll carry on looking for a more classic style ( i.e. older ) bike. I did consider a Ducati, but I've heard they're a bit temperamental.
dukeboy749r
Ooh, just a tad...! But you can do worse than a classic (or even just older Ducati)! SS, 851, ummm lovely older bikes - or 998, 916, replica calssics, - there are lots to choose from. Have you ever ridden a Ducati though?
Busby
Top tip on the 916's, if you're going for one look for one from the first two years of production as they were actually hand built during this time and so long as they have been serviced properly they will do you better than a later model. Biscuits
I'm looking to raise cash to do my pilots licence next year... was going to keep the 748BP for track days (not bother tax and mot'ing it), but I think I'll sell it instead. PM me if it's of any interest. Paul
