Mac
Does anyone know what the situation is with getting a Sky installation onto the third floor of some flats? The ceilings are pretty high in the place too so I'm guessing it must be a good 10-12 metres high Any ideas?
Sparky
They have a high installation team that will sort that out. Just needs a little more notice so as to schedule them in.

JamesB
Michelangelo did a pretty good job at the Sistine chapel and the ceilings are quite high there too

CabGirl
Do you not have a communal system you can plug into? I'd also be surprised if your lease allows dishes on the outside of the building...
Calm Chris
Might the building have NTL / Telewest feed in to the M & E room that feeds ulitity service to the flats? If so, you may well find that the dish on wall isn't allowed and that any installation will be a simple feed from the M & E room via the riser and in to your flat. What do the existing flat occupiers have?
bfc1912
Just bypass sky and get a local satelite company to install. Saves the hastle of the sky guy just going 'can't do that' and buggering off. They're exactly the same as Sky and it shouldn't cost you much/if anything extra. they'll send you your contract through and you send it off and wait for the card. Call them up and they'll instal and give you the box. Used a company near me called Brymar but don't think they do London. Very helpfull though and might be able to recommend someone, also website full of usefull info.
BobF
When i had Sky dish put up at my flat (3rd floor) i wrote to the Management company to get their permission and they said it was OK as long as the dish was put in a location where it was least visable from the pavement. They also said that if i sold the flat and the new owner didn't want the dish then i had to get in taken down. I got a local firm to intall it and not Sky. The local firm were excellent and put the dish up right in the eves of the roof and then ran the cable round under the guttering and down the wall into the room. They even colour coded the cable to the brickwork so it was not visable at all - which is something they said Sky won't do as they have only black cable - not sure if this is true though
shao_khan
Sky are actually advertisign at the moment - get 4 people in a block to sign up and they'll come do a 'communial' installation for free.
