Leon3000
I have just ordered a 4gb MMC memory card to play mp3's on the multimedia system in my A4. I've just read the manual that says you can use cards up to 256mb. Is this strictly true? Will the 4gb card work? Quick answeres please so I can cancel my order immediately if so.... SamD
I thought there was some 2GB limitation....
SamD
Check this thread It is not a size limit, but rather a file limit.
Daz
There's a 512 limitation on the number of files / folders. 4Gb cards will work but you won't get much more on them than a 2Gb card unless you're using a very high bit rate. Will MMC cards work OK? I'm using SD cards in my car.
Leon3000
I've cancelled the order and being refunded today! Im new to this media card thing so whats best for me to order? A 2gb SD card (are all sd's the same size?) or a 2gb MMC card?
Daz
I bought 2 of these 2Gb SD cards from MyMemory http://www.mymemory.co.uk/memory/MyMemory/2GB/133X/SD/Card/(Secure/Digital)
PetrolDave
I use 1GB, 2GB & 4GB SD cards that I got from a variety of places including eBay and Moby Memory http://www.mobymemory.com/proddetail.asp?prod=SD%5FMOBYMEMORY%5F4096%5F001 I use a 320kbps rip rate, so for me 4GB cards are useful. If you use a lower rip rate then you may reach the 512 files PLUS folders limit before you fill a 2GB card.
Vertigo1
I'm using a 4GB and 2GB Moby memory own-brand cars atm and they both work perfectly. I find 256kbps to the sweet spot for me, balancing space usage against file/folder limits.
