Golfer
Well I supose you know what your doing!!! I would not spend 44K on any car without driving it. I drove that model and I did not it one bit, won't go into why. I really do hope it comes up to expectations.

[/ QUOTE ] Were there not any 5 series in the show room that you could have sat in Have to say, I wouldn't spend that sort of money without making sure that I like that car first. Good luck though
Gangle
There were no facelifted cars available, I believe they have only just gone into production. I just know the 5 series is the car for me, I have loved the shape ever since they first arrived, and I must have read every review possible on the 535d. 286bhp, 0-60 in 6.4 lovely. Gangle
Well I am getting one for an extended test drive, so I could still change my mind, granted 44k is alot of wedge though, lucky I got the 8% off then

Gangle
For those who think price is too high you might like to know that the facelifted cars have been increased in price, the 535d from £40,420 to £42,165 OTR

Gangle
To be honest, I am happy with the deal, I have still saved the best part of 4k from list price. Its nice to know I am dealing directly with the main dealer, My father bought from the internet only to end up with a pre registered car and nearly 9 months wait for the car! Irnbrukid
That is from a dealer, gizze knows a more about them than me maybe he will comment on it. If your happy with your deal then thats all that matters, i just wouldnt deal with that level of discount.
PeterS
Sounds good - you'll enjoy it I've had quite a few cars that I've not test driven first, including my first E61 525d M Sport. I've also ordered a B6 A4 Avant, B5.5 A4 Avant, MB E Class, E46 BMW 330d M Sport, MINI Cooper and a Megane without test driving. So far I've not been disappointed by any of them. To be fair though, the first 3 were company cars... Peter
pile
Coast2Coast use a London dealer ( i dont know which one ) , i dont think you will get that deal matched by your local dealer ( trust me ive tried ). Coast only get the discount on the basis of shifting so many cars per year.

Gangle
Been thinking about it, and I am going to change my order tomorrow to a 525d M Sport Auto, I have worked out that the 535 engine works out about 7k on top of a 525d. The facelifted 525d gains 20bhp ( now 197 ) and sub 8.0 second 0-60 with fuel consumption almost identical to a 520d. I will stick with all the same options and obviously add the Auto and metallic paint. The only thing I will not have is the new lane departure system which is standard on the 535d. The new figure should be £37k.
Alastair_A3
Good choice but you wont be getting near the economy of the 520d
Gangle
Well if you look at figures for the updated model, the 525d auto is more economical than the 520d. 520d urban-30.4 extra urban- 51.4 combined-40.9 525d urban 33.2 up 26.72% on pre facelift extra urban-53.3 up 16.89% combined-43.5 up 21.51% So as the 520d remains the same, the 525d becomes more economical, and also gains 20bhp. Cant lose really
Alastair_A3
Can i ask where you got your figures from because yours differ from the BMW website: 520d: Urban (mpg) 34.0 Extra-urban (mpg) 58.9 Combined (mpg) 46.3 When i borrowed a 520d touring for the day i got 43 mpg combined from chester to nottingham and back
Gangle
Dont forget I am quoting auto figures for both cars, I have the january 2007 dealer briefing for the 5 series LCI update (March facelift vehicles). The website is not showing the power increase for the 525d, shows 177 instead of 197.
Gangle
Just checked, yours are figures for a 520d touring in manual transmission, the manual is marginally better in 520d form but when you add auto the figures reverse and the 525d becomes more economical.
