crazy.gif Assuming I don't get 'lucky' and get a 3 points fixed penalty notice the magistrates guidelines are:

[ QUOTE ]

For travelling up to 10 mph faster than a 20-30 mph speed limit or up to 15 mph faster than a 40-50 mph speed limit or up to 20 mph faster than a 60-70 mph speed limit the guidelines suggest that the magistrates endorse with 3 penalty points.

For travelling between 11 and 20 mph faster than a 20-30 mph speed limit, or between 16 and 25 mph faster than a 40-50 mph speed limit, or between 21 and 30 mph faster than a 60-70 mph speed limit, the guidelines suggest that the magistrates endorse with 4 or 5 penalty points.

For travelling between 21 and 30 mph faster than a 20-30 mph speed limit, or between 26 and 35 mph faster than a 40-50 mph speed limit, or between 31 and 40 mph faster than a 60-70 mph speed limit, the guidelines suggest that the magistrates endorse with 6 penalty points or consider disqualification for between 14 and 56 days.

crazy.gif but these are only guidelines and a magistrate can deviate from them if he/she feels the urge....

3 years not to count for totting up purposes, 4 years to have removed from your actual licence

[/ QUOTE ]

does that mean you don't have to declare them to your insurance company after 3 years?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm pretty sure they ask about convictions within the last 5 years 169144-ok.gif

Typically I think you will get 6 points + court hearing if your average speed is 25mph above limit (what I was told by the copper when I got clocked at 94.5mph on the 70mph M621 motorway (got 3 points). He said any faster and I would have been looking at 6points + court.

Insurance companies ask for convictions and claims for the past 5 years. Points are valid for 3 years on your license but is mandatory that they stay on for 4 years (you then have to ask for them to be removed.

  • 2 weeks later...

I wouldn't have been the registered keeper at the time of the 'incident' as it was still in the name of the dealer so although not out of the woods I would have thought that if something was coming it would still arrive with the dealer within the 14 days 169144-ok.gif
