Be closer to driving the Maybach. Flush.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

That is the funniest thing I have heard in ages. Have you heard the noise the new M3 makes? yelrotflmao.gif

Enjoy!

[/ QUOTE ]

I have and yes it does sound good.

But then the CSL with this se up is immense - makes the 430 seem like a bit of a soft touch.

I wasnt comparing the noise to the Maybach however. Just saying the M3 looks alot comfier.

I have to say, if these pics are the real deal then it does nothing for me at all looks wise.

Interior doesn't look a patch what's offered in the RS4.

Seems a bit weird to show a concept car that had a certain wow factor then 4 weeks later to release shots of the production car in some drab maroon color with grey interior. It also looks like it's running with 18"s.

My RS4 arrives next week beerchug.gif

Re-reading through my posts in this thread and it makes me sound like im dumming down the new M3.

Just want to say for the record this is not the case at all.

I know it will be great.

I am very sure it will be better than the current M3.

I am just not certain it will offer the same level of thrill the current CSL offers.

After all I never really appreciated the standard E46 M3.

Im odd. This car will be immense!

Agree about the interior - but you cant tell from those pics, we dont even know if they are real.

The outside however looks great IMO, even with those 18's.

I've been hoping the new M3 won't be better than the current CSL which of course is just wishful thinking. We'll get some real feelings for how good it is when we get some reviews and representative timings from jaunts around the Nordschleife

It's official title is 'M DCT Drivelogic' (DCT = Double Clutch Transmission) and it's a 7-speeder. Anticipated production begin: March 2008.

Got this sent through from Feet to me this morning:

We are pleased to announce the introduction of the new BMW E92 M3 Coupé to be launched on Saturday 8 September 2007. The car follows the "M3 Concept Car" which was previewed at the International Motorshow in Geneva at the beginning of March. The World premier is scheduled for the IAA Frankfurt Motorshow in September.

The production car closely follows the design of the M3 Concept Car and is powered by a new 4.0-litre V8 naturally aspirated high-revving engine. The new BMW M3 Coupé will set the benchmark for the market segment and continue the BMW M3 success story.

Launch Date

The new BMW M3 Coupé is to be launch in the UK on Saturday 8 September 2007.

A double-clutch gearbox might be closer to introduction than first thought, since there will be no sequential-manual gearbox option.

I dont think it will do it for me.

That pic o the interior confirmed in my head its just too much luxury not enough in your face performance.

I will keep my order on as you never know but its looking unlikely.

Might keep it to run for a week alongside the CSL if there are good premiums.

If someone wants to give me a good offer for 5th at Park Lane I might be swayed.

I think its going to between new CSL and GT3 for me. frown.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

You're a funny guy Sam grin.gif

If you think fifth place on the delivery list enables you to get a premium you are sadly mistaken...just not going to happen my friend.

Thanks Sam.

To be honest though I would want a dsg car, and I bet they don't arrive till spring/summer 08, and you could get a nice premium on that car as soon as all the reviews are raving about it.

[/ QUOTE ]

tut, tut Guy...I thought better of you 169144-ok.gif

The first 6-8 months of supply will only be 6 speed manual gearbox until the BMW version of a twin plated clutch gearbox system is ready for launch. don't forget that if it suffers problems that date could easily move back-and my understanding is that it's already behind schedule.....

Just discovered this forum whilst wandering lost without M3 news while BM3W is off-line, this thread has re-juvinated me.

I wanted some opinions, I'm 5th on a coupe list but it isn't the most practical car for me, how long after launch will the touring be released and if I took delivery of my coupe reasonably early, could I trade it against the touring without taking too much of a hit?

Gareth, you seem to speak the most sense about such things.
