Scotty
I've had it years and it leaked. Today it made some unpleasant burning smells (whilst dripping water) and then simply died. There seems to be a huge choice these days and I'm a bit lost. Any recommendations? Is it worth paying extra for the brand name or is it throwing money away? Cheers
RobA3
If you have had a Karcher for years, I would stick with what you know
MrAvant
Has anyone on here used a non branded one and how did they get on? I presumed that they (chaper washers) have come a long way since the early days of Karchers dominance.
steelwind101
Sorry to hear about the washer.... I think someone posted Tescos did one for 25 quid. I would say if you move away from Karcher you might loose the option for addons like the foam lances etc. Geoff
Isoproturon
I have had 2 Karchers and they both started leaking pretty quickly, not having had much use. And no, it wasn't frost damage. Personally I think they're poo and would rather use a cheapy.
alexc
Karchers have come down in price over the years, you can get a decent one for not allot of money, with the cheap "generic" ones you will get what you pay for. They're fine for occassional use but nothing more in my opinion.
Isoproturon
That's sort of the point I was making, in a round about sort of way. The cheap Karchers are no better than cheap pressure washers from the local supermarket.
JamesB
I didn't even know there was a character called Mike in The Archers. Shows how up-to-date I am.

Scotty
I stuck with Karcher so I can still use my existing tools etc. It the K2900M with all the bits. Including delivery it was £76.94. All I need now is some time off work to use it p.s. I got it from Robert Dyas on line. It was £1 cheaper than their Ebay advert then I stuck a discount code in and got another £8 off

wyliss
Hi Scotty, I am after the same one, any chance of the code please? Cheers mate
Scotty
I'm pretty sure it was TBF122. None of my receipts show it. I just did a seach on Google as I always do when buying on line. It's amazing how much money is given away by these companies if you search. I used the patio cleaner attachment today. I didn't use any detergent and it still worked really well
wyliss
You are right...cheers for that. Just went onto Hotukdeals andhte codes is there !. I have been looking for a decent Karcher package for ages and this one looks ok. Is the pressure variable on the gun?
Scotty
Not on the gun but you do get an adjustable jet attachment so you can go from low to high to mix. It's not the highest pressure device out there but it seems to be doing the job and it's a good price.
NewNiceMrMe
Well I'm glad you didn't make the same mistake I did. I went from a Karcher to a Halford one because: a) it was higher pressure b) it had a very long lance hose c) it was down from £249 to £150 It blew up yesterday, of a kind, after months and months of never working properly. Oh, and the reel that the hose went on never coiled properly and snapped off, and the noise was incredibly loud, and the wheels on the base were about as useful as square blocks, and the attachments were sh1te, and in general it was an appalling product. Never again.
bpsmith
I have the slightly older version of this but with very similar spec and can vouch that it works a treat. Patio attachment is awesome even without detergent. Oh, and the vario lance on full pressure is enough to take your skin off!!! Have an inch long scar on the top of my left hand after trying to wash the dirt off it at the end of doing the patio edges, but forgetting to turn down to minimum setting like I normally do before washing hands! Dont believe me, then try it yourselves...
Scotty
I do believe you. I did exactly the same about two years ago.
drpellypo
I've found the Karcher build quality to be dire! If you want to spend an extra few quid, have a look at a lavor range.

Scotty
One day I'll get a Costco membership! Having said that driving to my closest Costco in the S4 would have cost me a lot more than the extra £5!

Mook
Cheers for the Robert Dyas link, Scotty, as well as the discount code - just ordered the same system, as my Karcher started leaking and can't be repaired without forking out about £
