[/ QUOTE ] That's the standard coding for UK supplied Audis - if you have VAG-COM you can sometimes change the coding to make the rear lights come on as well. But I usually leave the DRL switch off except in situations like light rain and bright sun in southern France (which we had on holiday recently).
