macdond
Ok There is going to be a new addition or should I say first addition to the family on the 1st January 2007. This gives me a dilema: 1. I need to get passanger air bag off siwtch fitted to my S4 cab. I trust this can be done, any idea's on cost. I would hate to give the stealers 1 hours labour for a five minute job. 2. I sell the S4 and get the following: Skoda Octavia 1.9TDI, good car for money and wouldn't worry about the mess in the car. Westfield/Chaterham type car... What would you do?????
Sponge
I'm not comfortable with having child seats in the front of cars, so I'm afraid if they can't go in the rear I'd have to seriously consider a change of vehicle.
PetrolDave
Dealers can retrofit the passenger airbag switch.
max_b
it can be done, the parts are not that expensive - key switch, dash light, wiring loom, its the labour that costs.... iirc about £250 all in
Scotty
My memories a bit vauge but I don't think the dealer can just diasable the passenger side. I think it was all or nothing as it's on one circuit. We just put the seat in the rear.
Milo
It can definitely be done as the dealer wanted to retrofit it and ISOFIX to an A4 I ordered when it was missed off. Not sure on the cost though.
max_b
Scotty, on the older Audi's they could do that, just reprogram the electrics chip to switch off passenger airbag aparantly now they cant/wont do that now and say the whle kit must be retro fitted if you want passenger airbag disabled
Merlot
[ QUOTE ] Dealers can retrofit the passenger airbag switch. [/ QUOTE ] It can be done on some B6 A4's but not all. B6 S4 Cab is a 100% no no I am afraid. Sorry.
nordberg
I had mine retrofitted with it. Give you stealer a call for a quote.
Merlot
Your dealer might quote but only realise when your B6 S4 Cab is in bits that it can't be done on that model.
macdond
Ok Looking at all the posts, I conclude the following: If Audi do actually retrofit a switch it's going to cost far more than I am willing to pay. So it look like the baby seat will have to go in the back.... I just hope I don't put my back out trying to get the child in and out of the seat

[/ QUOTE ] Hi Sponge Why is that ? Safety ? distraction ? I think I would prefer baby to ride up fron where I can keep an eye out, without getting distracted of course Thanks A4CG
Merlot
The hardest time to get kids in the back is when they are babies as you have to lift the seat in (with them in it) each time. With coupes' or four seater convertibles I found the best way to do it was to open front and rear windows. Ideally you would have the roof down as well but kids learn very quickly to ask for the roof to go up if they are in the back. Mind you a baby can't complain for a while! Best of luck.
