Brabus
That's terrible Spoke to him a couple of times when he was up in Verbier skiing and seeing friends. Very aproachable and calm bloke.
DHA
Met him at a rally GB a few years back, thought I had got him to sign his book but it must have been something else he signed that day. Very laid back and relaxed and didn't mind chatting to people.

Wallachie
I can't believe what I'm reading, absolutely devastating news to all of us.... We have lost some of our legendary motosrport stars in the last few years.....Bertie Fisher is the most prudent (here in NI), who died in very similar circumstances. Dr_Watson
Remember Steve Hislop from Hawick in the Scottish borders. Me and my Dad used to deliver parts to his workshop. He was the British Superbike champ. He died when his Robinson helicopter crashed in 2003 near his home too. I really hate those little choppers now, they are cheap and efficient but just seem very fragile.

fatcat
I just caught with this sad news this morning, I can't believe that he is no longer with us. I have met Colin a few times, the first being when I was working for Fords and it was the time that he signed for their WRC team, we had a brief chat and he took me for a quick spin in the 1972 Escort Mexico at Dunton, only about 5 minutes but a dream drive by a great driver. Another time I met him was at the Wales GB Rally in Cardiff in 1997, a true gent and spared me a few moments to chat and sign the programme. We last saw him at Goodwood this year on the rally stage, whilst we did not speak with him we watched his genius in action. Rest in peace Colin, you were my idol and I will never forget what you did for the sport and the impression you made on me.
Paul
Just like his friend Richard, a tragic loss of a sporting legend. my thoughts go out the families involved. If there is "somewhere else" I hope they are ripping it up! I can not find a better picture than the one DHA posted earlier that sums up Colin. This is how i will always remember him. Winton
I just find it so tragic that, for me, the two best rally drivers Britain has produced have been taken away so young. Colin only ever gave 100% and that was what made watching his driving so electrifying. My thoughts are with his family.
BrakeSnake
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Absolutely awful..i can't believe it! First Richard Burns and now Colin. A very sad day. [/ QUOTE ] I was thinking the same thing. Bugger. [/ QUOTE ] Can't believe it. Didn't see this on the news, only spotted it on here. A sad day for all, a loss to motorsport, and a trajedy for his family. Our thoughts go out to them for the loss of a great man.
Rustynuts
Colin McRae.com has been down since the incident. Just a black screen. Gonna miss the Scotsman, and all his sideways antics. Rest easy Colin, and the others (whoever they may be).
Wallachie
Here is a very nice video tribute which is on Youtube......the man lived life to the absolute max......he will be sorely missed. http://pl.youtube.com/watch?v=xvmff9I_ezc&NR=
IT_S8
RIP, still can't believe it, but BBC has now confirmed... McRae was the reason most kids dreamt of owning a scooby, I'm sure I wouldnt have had a string of them had he not given them the publicity he did, driving the way he did. To see someone drive a car at 110% so consistently like that was a real sight - I'm one of the many that has been and seen WRC rallies in the flesh and it will not be the same knowing he can't be pounding down the gravel again... Sadder still that children are also involved :-(
cruiser647
He was an absolute genius driver. Subaru's UK fortune took a bit upturn with him leading the way. A great shame.
