judith_sw
Hi, Audi keep telling me I need a brake fluid change every 2 years and want £100 for it. Any guidance? It seems a lot and am willing to either wait or go indie. However, the car is still under warranty ... Any advice gratefully received. Thanks, Judith
cruiser647
2 yrs is standard. I think my indie charges me £54??? Brake pedal responsiveness and effectiveness drops the longer you wait. Brake fluid absorbs water, so starts to loose its vicosity. I think? Mook
Like he says Manufacturers have guidelines, so you need to stick to them. If you're not happy to pay their labour rates, use your independent, but ask them to use Audi supplied brake fluid, to keep your warranty in tact. You'll also need to keep your invoice for having the work done, in case you need to make a warranty claim in the future.
paul_tdi
I believe I am right in saying that dealers are no longer permitted to invalidate warranties if you get an independant to do the work, providing the independant is VAT registered? PetrolDave
Brake fluid absorbs water from the atmosphere over time, goes spongy and lowers it's boiling point. I would never, ever, ever miss out on the 2 yearly brake fluid change - I want brakes that I can rely on.
judith_sw
Point taken ... I'll get them done! Thanks, Judith
Vic
Ipswich Audi did my Brake flid change for £54. Chelmsford Audi wanted £95. Helps if you phone around.
Sponge
My car is coming up to 2 years (October). I surprised my dealer hasn't sent me a begging letter.

[/ QUOTE ] Correct - but, so you avoid all the malarkey if it comes to a warranty claim via a main dealer, you're best off keeping the original invoice/receipt for any work the independent has done. Sponge
I got my reminders today. Well, two of them. One from Stoke (they did my last service) and one from Liverpool (I've bought spares from them) but so far nothing from Chester (the place I actually bought the car). Sponge
I've just had three quotes: Liverpool: £65 Stoke: £71 Chester: £96 Non-standard pricing is just wrong! I'd rather not use Liverpool, but surely they can't feck up a such a simple job, could they?
Mook
Go back to the other two dealers and tell them that Liverpool have offered to do it for £65. You've nothing to lose by asking...
