Woppum
Well as you all know im totally in love with the CSL and was very impressed with how it stacked up on the track compared with even the best road/track cars from Porsche. Im just wondering what the other options are for under £50k: Noble Gt3 CSL TVR Is there anything else im not thinking of. Also are there any other cars about with paddle shifts? Im having a total mind block!!!
bazza_g
If you want something fecking quick on the road and exceptional on the track too - give the Litchfield Type 25 Impreza a look EVO recorded some interesting laptimes with it... [ QUOTE ] EVO Magazine Laptimes Vehicle Time Porsche Carrera GT 01:20.2 McLaren F1 01:21.2 Ferrari Enzo 01:21.3 Subaru Impreza Type-25 01:22:25 Koenigsegg CCX 01:22.3 Lamborgini Gallardo '06 01:22.8 Porsche Turbo 01:23.5 Porsche GT3 RS 01:23.8 Ferrari F430 01:24.2 Corvette Z06 01:24.5 Mitsubishi Evo IX FQ340 01:24.6 Audi RS4 01:28.0 Porsche Carrera S 01:28.9 [/ QUOTE ] I think it also won the EVO Road and Track Car Of The Year but I may be wrong about that I like this quote.... [ QUOTE ] "Richard Meaden has been driving Litchfield’s mighty Type-25 and, being dialed-in to the Impreza, the 911 Turbo’s handling comes as a bit of a shock! He pulls in after four or five laps looking distinctly ashen. ‘Bloody, that’s scary’ (911)" [/ QUOTE ]
Woppum
I couldn't live with the looks, turbo charged engine or 4wd to be honest. Im sure it is silly quick but was told at prodrive by a guy with a CSL he had a fast evo beforehand and was boring on the track by comparison. Is my list pretty much it apart from that? Woppum
[ QUOTE ] and there was me thinking you were just after the performance... [/ QUOTE ] No need a bit more than that really. Want - rwd, low weight, great weight distribution, fantastic noise and really a paddle box. I have enough to worry about on a track before taking gears back in to the equation... Not really thinking of swapping, just wondering what alternatives there are. Snail
Well that counts out the R8 then. Which seems to be getting exceptional reviews. Other than a Porsche, theres very little for you to look at.
Woppum
Considering the intrest there is now in car, and the growing popularity of trackdays its a suprise. So for under £100k there is only one good current road and track car - the Gt3? Is that correct?
Woppum
Well for me the R8 is too expensive anyway. I have seen the car slide. What puts me off more is the weight. Its only like 100kg less than the RS4...
Chav
maybe something custom made like Tobes' VW pickup. Can't imagine there's many cars faster than that for under 50K!

Plus a proper BMW V8 combined with a 1250Kg kerb weight would make for some interesting performance..... They are meant to be top notch in terms of build quality also. Makes a TVR look like an airfix kit.

edo
Paddle box is limiting you. You dont need to spend anywhere near as much as 50k to be as quick (or quicker) than the CSL round a track...

I just wanted to realise what is out there. Paddle box is sensible really. Apart from the fact there is enough going on at silly speed out there without having to worry about a porridge stirrer and clutch - the auto blip has already saved me from a few spins - and im not ready for heel and toe. Thorburn
Ignoring your favoring paddle shift, why not something like an Exige S or 2-Eleven? Ok, so with the 2-Eleven maybe not so much for road use

Changing gear really isnt that hard if you arent doing it when you sholdnt be (i.e. mid bend).
