superman_okuk
I have now had the 635d sport for a week now and the tank holds about 66 litres full. I got 448 miles out of the first tank and was showing 24.7 mpg on the computer. So much for 40 mpg by what BMW says. lol
gizze
450 miles from 14 gallons is 32 mpg, did you reset the OBC when you filled up??
gizze
Oh, and you sure your i-drive is not set for US mpg, they tend to be from the factory for some reason. 32 mpg UK is just under 26 mpg US.
Merlot
Its a 70l tank BTW. There is no way that these cars can do 42 mpg just as a 335i petrol will not do 32, however, the ratio is probably correct. Its early days with my 535d but it does 30mpg on a tank on average and 25 if I lean on it. My 645i was 23 and 19 respectively so that's about right - 30% more per tank for switching to diesel but much lower VED and better residuals. I really fancied one myself, too tight in the back for tall people though.

AH101
Having owned a 645Ci Coupe and 535d M Sport both for 20,000 miles each and both with 19" wheels (1 with run flats and 1 without) I have (at last) managed to find the best of both worlds!! I have ordered a 635d Auto Sport Convertible (19" Wheels Standard) which will be with my dealer by the end of February ready for March '08 delivery Black with Black roof and Beige Leather interior and a few nice 'toys' I can't wait Downsides.... (1) Would prefer 'normal' tyres albeit I normally do motorway driving so not much of an issue (2) Wish I could play DVD movies in the iDrive (without modification), guess I'll buy a portable DVD player! I've driven the 635d Coupe to test the diesel engine noise and it sounds very good...it'll be interesting to try it in a convertible (having said that it will be too late anyway!) I actually ordered in November through 'Drivethedeal.com' so I managed to secure 14% discount - glad I did, BMW seem to be clamping down on 'Drivethedeal.com' and 'Broadspeed.com' Counting down the days..... highflyin
Thanks for your polite and eloguent remarks 'Alastair A3' I can see a secondary education was completely wasted on your your tpyical 'Northern Monkey' attitude to polite debate. What kind of person buys a 5 series with all the go-faster M kit on it then sticks a 2.0 engine in it. The same person I guess that thinks the 6 series is good looking, I bet you even like the X6 too? ' Cumon moderator what about banning this 'monkey' for insulting someone who is just tryting to politely express an opinion.

If i want to go fast I use the caterham or go racing with the 205 1.9 GTi trackcar thanks Your pint glass is just half empty mate.. all you do is moan! sbgwz
I always thought the m sport kit was a look better kit, not go faster kit so surely alastair ordered the m sport kit on his 520 because it finished off the look of the car he chose with the engine he chose which he chose for personal reasons. so what if he like the bangle designs so do many other people its called personal taste. Its funny how someone can join a forum and do nothing but insult its even funnier when they insult the car they own like highflyin did in the 3 series forum. My brothers current work horse is a 57 plate 520D M sport fully specced including 19's. He works for BMW who i suspect chose the spec knowing fully well it would be sold a month on as my brother does very high mileage and obviously for them they noticed it would be the spec that returns most cost. Dont slate someone for their personal taste

highflyin
Let's get something clear guys I am NOT winding anyone up I am simply defending my right of free speech. I take exception to being told what I can think and write. Clearly you guys are so used to being sudued by (delete as appropriate) middle managers / council / wives / media / government / BMW / that you have forgoten Britian's great tradition of free speech and expression of opinion. Now, I happend to feel very strongly about this and as such I am happy to go to the end of the earth to protect this right. So if any of you want to meet me at Oxford services so I can more forcefully express my right to free speech let me know. I am required to tell you for personal liability that I am 6ft 5 and 17 stone with matial arts training but don't let that put you off if you feel strongly that I should not speak freely. 'Garcon' I particularly single you out for critisim, what kind of person uses the identity of 'James May'for their online profile. You clearly feel so inadequate in your every day life that you take on someone eles's identity. Dont you realise how very very odd that is!!! Unless you are James May - in which case I'm not watching Top Gear any more !

gizze
We all have the right of free speech, and it works wonderfully well, but for anyone to actually listen to your views you have to try and say what you want without fecking everybody off in the process. Generally everyone on here is pretty laid back, we all disagree with each others views on most matters but we also try and consider others peoples opinions and more importantly their feelings and not just say they are wrong. [/ QUOTE ] And I'm all for free speech buddy - but this isn't a school playground, so don't start slagging off people you don't know or pretending to be something you're not. There's plenty of ways of expressing your opinion without turning into a slanging match, or a pissing contest about martial arts skills. Maybe you could learn that when you're not typing on your new christmas present from your bedroom while mummy washes your boxer shorts. Now get your homework done - you've got school in the morning! xxx
