Chav
Big buses and coaches are really annoying me lately. They are huge, often empty, stink, slow as hell, hinder visibility and block the sodding roads up. Why aren't buses designed like long minibuses. There's surely no need for them to be so high, and so heavy etc. And why do the sodding wheels need to be so big, they only weigh a few tonnes. Anyone seen the wheels on a shuttle platform? People could surely design to be lower, more economical on space and size, and lighter. Maybe I should start an eco-friendly coach/bus company and design a nice bus. Chav
If an average person weighs 80kg, and you have 50 of them, then its only 4000kg. 4 sodding tons. Hardly needs a sodding juggernaut to transport 50 people. Grrrr.....
schmoo
plus if you have the misfortune to go on one they are uncomfortable, cold, misty so you cant see out and smell of wee! worse thing is the driver gives you eff all time to sit down so he canes it and you fly down the corridor about to land on some poor sod's lap they are pants
scooby_simon
Erm, luggage ? Yes they are feckin massive things, and I'm sure they don't really need to be; but do doubt the HSE make then twice as heavy as they need to be. No doubt they are built down to a price and so weight and function are secondary to price...
Mollox
I can see your point about the weight, sort of, Simon. Why then do they build the upper shell and window supports out of pipe cleaners? Glass isn't terribly rigid in a rollover crash as evidenced every time one of these things goes down a bank and tips over onto the passengers they've just thrown out. People talk about 1950s F1 drivers being "crazy" but I doubt Fangio would get into a coach....
cruiser647
Chav, I think you need to see a big, red London 'Bendy' Bus. One of Uncle Ken's 'special ideas'. So great, that they break in half at the flexi-bend, can't navigate some the streets London Transport send them down and some cannot brake properly. patently
Basically, if you can't afford a car, your journey is not important enough. So stay at home.

But for some reason, some ill-educated folk seem keen to ensure buses stay on the roads - they have their own sodding lanes FFS. So may as well try and make them a bit more other-cars-on-the-road friendly!!!
