Genuine offers are always invited ;)

Without exageration this car is 'out of the box' with absolutely no marks etc and very well looked after. I know on paper that does'nt encourage a high price but these B7's Cabs (S4's) are quite thin on the ground. I'm fortunate that I dont need to sell it.

That said if I had a very strong and sensible offer of course I would let her go.

Hi mate. Tried to sell a car identical to yours (dolphin s4 cab all the toys) last year. Best offer was 28k trade in.

Thanks Nordberg,

I was thinking the same but too polite to say. If it's not for you then why comment, If I thought a house was overpriced I would look at another or make an offer if it was of interest to me.

If I showed people round my house and someone was in my garden telling viewers its way overpriced I'd not be happy. It's easy to write on a forum but please remember I posted this as I have a genuine item to sell. If its of interest then please call me and we can discuss price, I would always want a deal when buying a car/house etc so I expect people to do that to me - and I'm open to sensible offers as posted earlier.

Rant over

:o Sorry for stepping on toes. You are right of course, it's not my or anyone else's right to question how you market your car (or anything else for that matter). In fact if/when you get any interest, +++ to you.

It's up to the buyer to know what is/isn't a good price.

We've managed to increase the number of people who have seen the advert though!!:P

No offence Merlot but are you going to jump on every for sale ad telling the op that there car is over priced. Its hard enough as it is out there with out your input.

Matt

Well I know a lot about S4's as I have had at least one continuously for the last ten years, having had three Avants and one Cabriolet. I genuinely felt that the price should begin with a 2 as it books at £27k in the trade and straight sale bids will be around £25k which puts it at £28/29k retail and £26.5/27k private. On top of that it is getting a bit late in the year to sell a Cab for top price and the V8 will put punters off. At the right price S4's are brilliant but they are a pain to sell. As I have said before, I still own one so have no interest in talking prices down but this car is £10k over priced, simple as that.

I think you will find that TSN is a forum full of enthusiasts who will know how to price check anything before they buy. You are quite right that B7 S4 Cabs are very thin on the ground and you might get lucky. I wish you well but putting something up for such a huge amount over is not going to go without comment on a forum such as this.

I think the replies to this thread should be deleted, the guy is trying to sell his car in a market that is hard, anyone searching for info on the S4 cab on google gets brought to the tyresmoke classifieds section as the second hit, albeit it is Martins S4 avant.

This is really going to hurt his chances.

What I have found though is always market your car at the lowest you would seriously take if you genuinely want to sell it, a lot of genuine buyers will not want to haggle and you miss out on all of them.

I used to put mine up for a few grand more than I would take and it would go after a few weeks, maybe a month. Then started pricing them at rock bottom price and got loads of calls and they all sold in days. Still knocked £500 off, but a buyer knows if it is a good price or not, having to knock a few £k off is just a chore, and is something many can't be bothered with.

To be fair as mentioned earlier I'm not too bothered about selling her..I usually sell my cars once a year to avoid depreciation and this is the first car I've had in years that I cannot think of a replacement for. If someone wants her then great, if not fine. If I then feel the need to sell or drop the price I will over time but right now I'm thinking if I got a good price great, if not its no great shakes.

Scotty - I have already mentioned I would take an offer and yes - someone could buy an S4 for 28k then get wheels reconned, bumper sprayed, 30k on the clock, thrashed etc etc or they could buy mine - knock me a couple of grand and love her as much as I do.

As an alternative point of view, aren't we a forum that imparts information and looks out for each others interests?

It wouldn't be good for one of our own to pay £10k over the odds.

By the same token it's not good to completely destroy someone's For Sale thread, which is what's just happened.
