RedRobin
vvvv I've only sat in one so far (driving next week) but I felt exactly the same about the high seat (very comfortable leather though) - I'm exactly 6ft. Also, although the interior is very noticeably more 'luxury' and Audi-like, it's too fussy for any Golf - Especially the steering wheel. The Golf's roots are Mr Hitler's People's Car - Wagen of the Volks - I prefer it more basic. [vvvv F*ck you too, TSN!!]
Snoopy
Are the seats different? i thought they were exactly the same apart from material pattern on the cloth and the new headrest design? Edited June 7, 2009 by Snoopy

Tarmac_Terrorist
Its even easier to swap the radio on the MK6 than the 5, only have to remove one piece of trim surrounding radio, 4 screws, then out! Not all good news... as VW charge @ £1700 for the nav, I can see many of these are going to get nicked and flogged on for still a good few hundred pounds. Given their value I would personally have been more comfortable if it was a little harder to remove!

I'll try to Enjoy your trip to the 'Ring, Robin - easy does it round there for your first lap (if you're taking your car on the track). It's addictive though. You've been warned! RedRobin
.... So is the Mk6 GTI the fastest car in the world?
Mook
No idea about the Mk6 - it doesn't exist But "The New Golf GTI" is quicker than the stock Mk5 - 210 bhp and a smoother changing DSG 'box have seen to that

Mook
Tipex enjoys being slapped, so that's not a good idea. Have you seen the "new Golf GTI"'s daylights? Remember back in the late 80s when everyone used to laugh at Volvos for not being able to turn the lights off, then all cars got dimmed headlights for a while (my late model MK2 16v toy has got them). Well VW (sorry, "Volkswagen") have brought them back, but this time it's the dimmed main beam, just so they're not seen to be going back 25 years... So a better idea would be to have something like RR has I guess? RedRobin
So a better idea would be to have something like RR has I guess? This DRL thingy is going round in circles isn't it ....Well I think so, but then I would, wouldn't I! I agree, I think it's been discussed enough and I would prefer to read what Mook has to say about his test driving the Mk6 GTI (or Mk5.2 or whatever you want to call it). silentandy
Are there likely to be any discounts on this compared to 0 on the MK5? I used the configurator to tick the same options I have on my MK5 and it was over £30k which seems ridiculous money!
RedRobin
. ....Somehow I doubt if the discount, if indeed there is any at all, would reduce the £30k to anything comparable to the cost of your Mk5. .
