HDMI Cable

Got a new tv (Samsung LE37A656) and blu-ray player (Sony BDP S500) on the way and looking for a half decent hdmi cable to link them up. Only needs to be one metre and don't really see the point in spending more than about £30 to be honest as I am not an aficionado!!

Any suggestions gratefully received.

A friend of mine was convinced that you needed to spend silly money on an HDMI cable so spent about £180 on a 1m cable for his PS3. To prove my point I switched it for my el cheapo £10 jobbie, watched a Blu-ray then switched back to his and he begrudgingly admitted that there was absolutely no difference.

HDMI is a digital... so it hsouldn't matter what the cable is made out of as long as it has the right cores and screen. Over 7m as Gizze mentioned you do start having problems withthe signal strength, then the sheite HDMI hand-shaking starts to fall over. Then you need to get a high quality cable that is a bit chunkier to stop the signal volt-drop.

If it's source equipment (DVD/PS3) direct to a panel/projector your usualy fine, but if you putting everything into an AV receiver first, then this adds another level of HDMI hand-shaking and cable scan start to make a difference.

:)
