sidicks
Have been keeping the car reasonably clean despite the horrible conditions, but the 4 tail pipes that should be gleaming are geeting covered in road grime, which gets 'baked' on from the heat. Can anyone advise what I can use to maintain their shiny look ? Thanks Sidicks

Scotty
Check out this thread HERE It show's how I ansered this question when it came up on the TT forum. I honestly got some private messages asking to be added to the group buy for the product to clean the inside of the tail pipes!!
Sven
"100mm industrial pipe cleaner" should have raised an eybrow me thinks (other than a pic of an obviously brandnew exhaust still on the fitter's bridge). BTW, I use a product called "steelfix" which can be used with water. It's mild abrasive, but with my alu exhaust tips that's okay. I've used wheel cleaner as well, which also works okay, though not great on "cooked" bits of dirt.
Blaa
Never even thought about cleaning my exhaust.. But then I drive a TDI and and keep my pipes hidden behind the rear valance.

In fact it's quite awsome how much more powerful cars have become over the last couple of years. So your dad can be expected in a showroom before long? [/ QUOTE ] Nah, he's too old for an M3, and has never really been into cars, unlike me - he bought the Carlton GSi when he sold his share of a partnership he was in. But I think he'll stick with his Zaffira TDi !! Sidicks

[/ QUOTE ] Have now finally been to Halfords and bought some Autosol. It does exactly what you guys said it would - the ( 4 )exhaust are all looking very shiny, and now make the rest of the car look dirty..... I didn't realise what a great shop Halfords is - I thought it was mainly for boy racers to buy boot spoilers to turn their 1.6 Orions's into GTi's look-a-likes, but there's a lot of useful stuff. I bought some blue LED type things that go on the windscreen washer jets and some more for the tyre valve caps - they contrast really nicely with the grey paintwork of my car. Have also now got the interior storage tray and smokers tray lined with these to match - it looks really cool and contrasts nicely with the red lights elsewhere in the cabin. I'll post some pics in due course.... Cheers Sidicks

Whether no-one fell for it, or no-one could be ars*d to reply is not clear, or maybe you simply realised I'd have better taste. Must go an clean the wheels now....
