UBM
 I don't believe - redundant in March, start a new job in May and went into work this morning after 10 days paternity leave (bambino now 12 days old) to be told I am redundant again. I just don;t believe it....

cruiser647
Sh1t! Why take you on for such a short time then? Couldn't or didn't they think about these things? And how it fecks you up? IIRC, did you have a choice of job in March - and you chose this one?
Busby
That's really rough mate. Good luck with sorting something out quickly. What business are you in?

Arch
Bugger. One of the guys at my ex work had the same thing too. Up for redundancy in Feb, took a pay cut to go back to doing his old job effectively as an installer again. Three months later, that position at risk (just like mine was) and out of a job again. Mollox
P, Sorry to hear that - goes without saying that the timing is awful but look on the bright side. You have a new nipper that will love you forever and, I strongly believe this, every setback is an opportunity. Yes, its not a great market out there, and yes you might have a month or two of lows but get stuck in, have a look around and I'm sure you'll find something better. Just get stuck in with looking early
theduisbergkid
You can get a job (of some kind) anywhere, but the happiness of a sprog in your life cannot be found anywhere else, good luck to you (Jesus, what a schmaltzy post, sorry !) UBM
Thanks all your words of encouragement and support. Thanks too Mollox - I got stuck in straight away!:D - I just got to start looking for jobs now! Still, the little one is doing well and the initial shock of a jobless husband seems to have dropped off now on my wife. I'm sure that a better opportunity is going to come knocking. In the words of one James May "Oh cock!"
scooby_simon
UBM, I've been out of work for nearly a year anmd I am loving it!!!! Yes we are burning savings... But I'm having a fine time; learning new things and doing a few things I've never had time to do; I'm now a qualified Ski instructor and looking to do a few more things; looks like I'll get a fair bit of work over the winter Ski wise. The fact there is feck all going on at my level in The City is just the way it is. Look on it as a chance to do a few things you've not done before!!!!!
