Flynn
Well my car's pump and turbo are currently in 'a state of tune' but I don't want to go any higher until I know what boost I'm running. Needs to be capable of displaying up to 30 psi and no stupid flashy ones that have loads of lights on them and what not. If no one can suggest me anything better I'm gonna go with this one even though it is on the expensive side: SW TURBO BOOST GAUGE 30/0/30psi COMPLETE KIT BLACK DIAL on eBay (end time 13-Apr-11 11:24:44 BST)

Maxyboy
It's got another 23 days to go at auction or are you going to "buy-it-now"? It's a dilemma. I would go for "buy-it-now" as the waiting can be the hardest thing. Let us all know how you get on.
Cuprabob
That is a beautiful looking guage. You're lucky I have a N/A or I would have bought it now.

Yeah I just wanted to see if there were any cheaper but all of the cheaper ones I've found look really gimmicky. It's just got a 'buy it now' option and they've got several of them so I'm in no rush to buy one. Besides I've got to wait until my loan comes through again;)

Chick
Might even do discount for two !?! Hope your loan comes through in time even tho I'm sure there will be others if you don't win this one .... how long is it going to take to finish the car project? I think RR has one of these mounted on his steering column, it might be worth asking him where he sourced his from. I think he bought his with state money too, albeit state pension. Flynn
No, the looks of my car are important, that's why I chose a pug 306 because they are nice looking cars, but why would I care what the instruments looked like? As I've said I want a cheap gauge with no stupid lights or anything but I can't find such a thing there I've got to get a more expensive one with no stupid lights or logos or anything. Scotty
Are boost guages like speedos in cars i.e. the higher the max number printed on them then the faster the car will go? If so wouldn't fitting a boost guage that goes up to 50psi make the pug even faster? Or as suggested two of the 30psi ones and then you'll have 60psi of boost! It'd be wicked init ! p.s. Actually maybe just fitting a different speedo facia would work p.p.s. I hope the radio goes up to at least 11.

They are like a tin can on wheels Well it depends on your taste in cars the best looking car to me is an Impreza 22B, theres nothing I like more than a plain car done up. I like simple lines and nice proportioned shapes in cars, much like I like in women;) What I like about the 306 shape is that is is low and wide looking in stance with a handsome smiling face. I find cars with high fronts ugly, in other words, all cars designed after about 2000. If I turn the turbo up too far, it will **** itself and I'll have to find a new one and fit it while I've not got any money. Without a boost gauge there is no way to tell what actual boost you're running so you need to install a gauge to tell you. With the new source of information from the gauge, you can then tune the engine safely.

Rodney you plonker- Do you really think a cheapo gauge with +- 20% accuracy is a sound base for deciding what bar to twist the turbo up to ? You'd be better off adding caster sugar to the derv as a performance enhancer.

Mook
You'd be better off adding caster sugar to the derv as a performance enhancer. Now that's a stupid comment if ever there was one. Surely you know that icing sugar is better, because it dissolves quicker. I used to run it in my Allroad instead of using BP Ultimate diesel and it worked a treat. Tipex
Mook is right, caster sugar isn't refined enough so doesn't dissolve properly, much like when you drink tea and you can still see sugar in the bottom of the cup. I use sugar regularly in the taxi, more performance, more mpg, no downside, why wouldn't anyone use it?
