Weird car stuff you just don't get

One thing I don't get, is people going to 'exclusive' car launches at dealers?

There's nothing exclusive about being told when you can look at a car you may or may not want to buy (why would you even bother if you have no intention of buying?), i'd rather just go in my own time without a showroom full of beardy anoraks discussing the latest alteration to the tail lights of the newly slightly face lifted Audi.

Ultimately, you're just an address in a database that they post something to, in the hopes of selling you something, why do people feel in some way privileged to have received this?

I'd go to a launch event for a model I was actually interested in, because I'd hope all the relevant info would be easily available, staff would be on hand who knew the details, and there'd at least be some free drinks and a few waitresses to leer at.

But I wouldn't exactly call it a privilege. Your life would have to be pretty dull for it to be that.

I go to every Porsche model launch I get invited too. Not because they're "exclusive" but because there's a free bar, plenty of food and loads of totty!

Yeah, sounds great.

A free bar, useful when nearly everyone there is driving home!

Can't think of anything more boring to be honest.

I got a lift there, met some friends there, drank far too much and made eyes at the sexy female dj. Apparently there were some cars there too, I know this as I got a phone call the following weekend as I was late for the test drive of the new Cayman I'd apparently booked and had no recollection of doing.

Lol.

But you didn't have fun so you fail at life. Apparently.

Yawn.

Each to their own and all that, but personally, if I want a drink, something to eat, or to leer at totty, I can think of much better places to do it than a car dealership, but that's just my opinion.

Its nice to get out and meet new people and get entertained and get the motor washed for free. I've been to some with some great celebs there, footy teams and even got to see Russell Watson at one of them, that was pretty special. But hey its not for the first time your opinion is diametrically opposed to the many.

I somewhat suspect that you guys are in the minority actually, given the vast majority of people don't bother with that kind of thing!

Celebs? Not interested one bit, they are just people like you and me, doing a job, doesn't make them special to me, but as I said, each to their own and I can understand why people do it, it just doesn't interest me.
